Looking for room to rent in Bogota (urgently in 10 days)

hi guys,
i have a little problem... need and accomodation urgently!!!
I would love to rent one room in a share house with internet connection, somewhere safe but not too pricey with great people :-)
I am a 28 years old woman from Central Europe and am coming to Bogota to study Spanish for one year time. However, I would stay only 3 months in Bogota but you never know... I can change my mind if I fall in love with the city too much. :-)

I have seen some offers in here already and am looking for something from 350.000 up to 400.000 pesos a month including bills, on the north of Bogota!!!

If you now about something, please don`t hesistate to send me an email ASAP with some pics maybe, description of the area etc...

thanks and have a lovely day :-)

400,000 a month for a nice apartment is hard. I mean it's 200 dollars a month? O_o
But yeah u can find something nice, The only problem would be the contract, u must sign one here i think, like a lease contract for at least 6 months.

I'm in Bogota, If u still need help, I can check some apartments and give u addresses, phones, etc. :)

While you looking you may want to try my g/f's place in Bogota. Rent for one room is as low as $17.99 night. You can check out the details at:

http://www.welovebogota.com
http://www.apartmentinbogota.com

I am not sure if anything is available right now but you can call her and find out. Gringoloid's apartment for only $400 sounds pretty good. I would have a look at that if I were you.

You will find that for the most part renting something furnished whether it is a room or apartment is pretty expensive in Bogota. If you want to take your chances rent a room for awhile and check out the newspaper when you arrive. Unlike many other places in the world, Colombians do not trust each other or foreigners when it comes to renting their places. You often have to jump allot of hoops to get a decent furnished apartment with low rental rates.

Again, I would want to learn more about Gringoloid's offer if I were you. I don't think you find anything better in Bogota. IMHO.

Yes, and I just spoke to a family with a huge house at 7 with 138 that rents rooms, and she wants $450 for a ROOM in her house. It includes a little food though.

Food too. That sounds like a good deal. The thing is if you want to find a really cheap place in most foreign countries you have to be prepared for the worse. I won't go into details. It takes time to find a really good bargain. Most people who do allot of traveling understand this. I was paying over $1,200 a month for a small room in an apartelle here in Manila when I first arrived. I could have lived cheaper in a hostel. If I had wanted too. But the place I was staying had a nice bar downstairs with pretty good food. It was a nice touch.

Oh come on guys, $400 USD is a lot!!!!

I have only been here a month, but checking out El Tiempo (newspaper) lately and realizing how much I am paying for my own (soon vacated) apartment.

I strongly advise you to stay at the Platypus Hostel in La Candelaria and search for a place the first few days you are here. Its fairly clean, has great wifi (and internet computers if you are not bringing one), and is close to public transit. Not to mention German, the owner, who, quite simply, ROCKS!

TG, my point is that Bogota is an expensive city for latin america. i was just in Medellin and was surprised to find real estate so much less for a much more beautiful city.

If she was only staying for a month.....I would make it $650 and have no trouble getting that. It's only been empty since Friday.

If you can handle that group living experience of the party animals, the dikheads, the midnight farts, etc.....then go for it!

(oh, i forgot, women don't fart)

I agree with travelgoddess. Even a glance at the notice board in Platypus may be enough.

Shenley, I might have just the thing for you. A friend of mine went to travel. Her daughter lives in the flat with another friend, the place is quite big. Best of all, it´s just around the corner from your school. It is at Autopista Norte / Calle 86. 10 minutes walk to your school, 5 minutes walk to Zona T. Transmilenio stop only 1 block away. Rent might be 500k all included but that´s just my guess. It would be perfect for you--but, I would have to ask her first if she wants to rent out. My guess: yes. PM me if you are still looking and I will ask her.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been
