Lonely Planet Guide about Colombia - Author admits he's never been to Colombia

This article in el Colombiano (published in Medellin) says that the author of the Colombia Lonely Planet Guide admits he's never been to Colombia, he just researched info through a former colombian girlfriend.

That gives you an idea of the quality of those travel guides.

That's why I only trust PBH website for my trips to Colombia, it's much more accurate (except for the left wing drivel of course)

Of course the writers of the Lonely Planet guide book were in Colombia. There were three, two visiting the country and one (the idiot above) doing background info.. He was not supposed to come to the country. So dont get all worked up about it. There is a lot of missinformation being spread about. The writer visited my business so i should know.

It was brief and left out a lot, but still informative.
People trashed that book.
It helped me a little.....

I have the LP. The guy who never visited Colombia was just supposed to summarize the history, food and drink. You could do this without going to the country. And the food and drink section certainly reads like he never went to Colombia.
