Unfortunetely in South America, there are only a few Hospitals approved by the Joint Commission International(an illinois based nonprofit gruop that has approved over 4500 US Hospitals and 135 overseas hospitals, many in Europe, Thailand, India, with only a few in South America( in mexico Brazil). Until this happens you won't see mainstream North American Medical Tourists/Travelers who would travel there say for Major type surgery such as Open Heart Surgery, Hip replacement ect. Plastic Surgery and Lasik Eye surgery will continue to be the big draw until this happens.

still... people (in general, and in north America) have a bad taste in their mouth, about going to Colombia or anywhere else like that, for these procedures. I have a client, who had breast and stomach both done a few months back, and I asked her if she knew about this 'out-of-the-country' proposition, and she said, 'Oh, yes,....but... so dangerous... and too many problems; I would never do that.'

A Boca Raton man is accused of posing as a dead dentist so he could practice dentistry in Hollywood, according to police.

Gustavo Antonio Quezada, 64, worked for several years as a dentist at 2450 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 400, calling himself Dr. Primitivo Garcia, Hollywood police said Wednesday.

But Garcia died in 2004.

On Tuesday, police and state Health Department investigators visited the dental office and interviewed several patients immediately after they saw Quezada. The patients said Quezada called himself ''Dr. Garcia'' and conducted dental procedures for them.

Investigators then interviewed Quezada, who admitted to using the dead man's identity and practicing dentistry without a license. He is charged with both crimes.

Investigators believe there are other clients who went to the fake dentist. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood police at 954-967-4357."
