Not sure of the answer but I wanted to say Hi. I am moving to Bucaramanga in one and a half weeks. :) I am "staying forever" but my fiance is Colombian so that makes it a tad bit easier.

I too am moving to Colombia. I am a 43 year old male who is currently engaged to a Colombian who has a 10 year old daughter. The father of the child will NOT permit her to move to The U.S, so I am moving to Bucaramanga. Love changes everything.

I am just about to find out a lot of these answers.

Both feel free to stay in touch.

Mac,
first thing is to get a VISA to stay.
Second, get a decent job (if you need a work to live).
The rest of the problems will be solved with time.

robi666 said it all.. Good Luck...The lucky ones who can get a decent paying job in colombia or business that pays the bills..I yet to find for many foreigners ofcourse there are exceptions...Rather work in Miami like many colombiano's or colombiana's and fly back and forth..Funny probably is easier to get a work permit in the States than in Colombia...and in Colombia they pay nothing..unless your a doctor or lawyer..or mafioso or narco..you get the drift..

Excluding all Retirees or One's that don't need to work...

Hi,

I don´t need a Job, i have a very good Job in Holland i travel worldwide for Buisness it means three Month here ....... than three Month there. It is only for the Holidays or when i have no Projects, it means... i will only stay here in Bucaramanga and live forever at first, later i will search a other place in colombia San Andres or something like this.

I don´t like to stay more Time in Germany (to much rules, stupid Politics etc.)

Normaly i don´t need a Visa, but is better i have one for the savety..........

Well...Invest in a property..for Investment Visa, Get Married or prove Union Libre for Marriage Visa, Business Visa if you have a business or want to open a business,

Or stay as a Tourist..all you have to do is leave the country and come back...

Only problems with no Cedula is banks but you have ATM's, Contracts, Health Insurance..

No Biggie..Doctors are cheap if you get sick so there you go..

I am waiting two years to prove Union Libre and will go for the Cedula...for now staying as a Tourist not so bad.. because I go back and forth from MIA>..or will invest 100,000 in property but why????Will wait to see if my GF and I will stay together will be one year November.

How long can you stay as a tourist. After you exit Colombia, how long before you can enter.

To open a bank account you need a national id card. But you must have a visa. I have a very good and honest lawyer that speaks english in Medellin.
