Living in Bogota

Hi,

I am staying in Bogota for a couple of months. I'm kind of working. I'm a grad student in the US and trying to do my research here in Bogota. But things are really slow and I'm having a hard time meeting people and therefore a hard time improving my Spanish. Any suggestions?

Even though I've traveled a lot by myself, I am a little intimidated by Bogota and have not been very comfortable going out alone at night. So, if anyone out there on this list likes to dance (I love to dance and most types of music) and wants a companion sometime, please email me. My email is loporreca at yahoo.com

Chao,
Lori

You might want to check out Webmanco's profile and follow the link to the "new in town" Meet-Ups he organizes.

If you are able, leave Bogota , I had the same problem when I arrived in Bogota so I came to Pereira ......very friendly people in the streets/tiendas/bares that have time and inclination to pass some time with you.

Why is everybody so down on Bogota today? Bogotoans may appear cold initially, but they warm up pretty fast.

Try hanging out in the Platypus for a while. Lots of long-term stayers there, lots of ways to meet people.

Poor but snappy
