Lima to Santa Marta

Alrighty... trying to make this cheap but not by bus the way! Thinking and seeing that my best option might be

Lima to Guayaquil by bus
Guayaquil to bogota by plane about 380 with avianca
Bogota to Santa marta by bus

any and all ideas are greatly appreciated

cheers, can´t wait to be back in Colombia

Another nice option would be

Lima-Iquitos by plane about $ 150
Iquitos-Leticia by boat about $ 70 (estimate)
Leticia-Bogota by plane about $ 150
Bogota-Santa Marta by bus $ 45

total transportation cost about $ 415

much more interesting and no international flights which saves a bunch in taxes.
Also a lot less time on buses and you should easily fit this into the same budget.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

With your budget you could even buy a ticket Leticia-Santa Marta and not spend any time on buses.
cost full fare for this is COP 450.000. Leticia-Bogota is COP 235.000

LAN just started service Lima to Medellin and they are advertising really cheap rates ($200 rt) , though I couldn't get the price to come up on the dates I wanted.

The Iquitos trip would be worth the extra money IMO. I did this trip 10 years ago and I would love to do it again. But forget about the Guayaquil route. Nasty border, long bus hours, boring scenery.

So I see the Lima Medellin option on lan .com but it only gives me 800rt or 400 1way? I am seeing 400rt to bogota which isn´t bad but 200rt to meddelin is the best.
i would do the iquitos letica but ive been to both places and I dont really want to spend days on a boat...

thanks to all the advice now if I can jsut find the 200rt fare.

cheers

If you don't want to stop between bogota and Santa Marta, fly or try a last minute purchase. My friend got a really good deal at the last minute.
