Life is great

I am an American living in Colombia. I have a beautiful wife and daughter. Things could not be any better. Most of all the bad things you read about Colombia are not true. Yes, there are some situations that are dangerous, but what isn't dangerous aout life. I was born and raised in Phila., so living in Colombia is like living in heaven. I suggest that everyone should visit Colombia at least once.

good suggestion, philly. colombia really is a wonderful place. some places a whole lot more pleasant than others.

don't know where you live, but my years have all/mostly been in and around medellin. i no longer favor the city, rather up country near llano grande. but as for colombian cities i've experienced, medallo is the best. it's easy to get around, the folks are warm, ladies beautiful, art and architecture abound and the music and food are great. too, the family lives in envigado.

Philly, we appreciate the nice sentiments, but like AB says, don't limit yourselves to just one visit.

philly...in addition to what i wrote above. until you have a lot of time under your belt there, don't let your guard down to the point of foolishness. i've lived there for years since 1989 and trust me all the things folks have heard are true. don't doubt it for a minute. if you've had ribbons and lace, be thankful to GOD, as one never knows what's around the corner. it takes a long time to develop 'reliable' colombian ship's legs. trust me, i know whereof i speak.

i am not a doomsday soothsayer, but i know my way around colombia as good as any foreigner i've ever met and i still use a stiff measure of common sense no matter where i go and what i do.

glad to have a happy camper in colombia...she's the best.

Hey Philly. I'm living in Philadelphia with my Colombian wife and we are spending our 2 yr anniversary together this week. I have been to Cali 12 times in the past 4 years and look forward to every visit down there (even though i still can't speak spanish). Glad you're enjoying life down there and hope to join you one day soon as we just bought land about 20 minutes outside Cali. Don't know what city you are in but it can't be worse than living in Philadelphia with the most killings of any big city in the US. Never thought we'd pass Detroit.
Hope you, your wife, and your child nothing but the best and welcome to the website.

I thought you 've never been in Cali. What about Buenaventura? Does it beat Philly as well?
