Legal question :)

Ok, first this is something that has been in my mind for a while but I have not been able to find an answer.
What would happened if I was married and in the process of giving papers to someone but I decided to get a divorce and marry someone else in another country and try to bring her here?
Would the first wife still be able to become a permanent resident after the divorce?
Would there be any type of penalty or legal consequences?
Would I be able to bring the other person?
None of the marriages would be for money, just a person that did a stupid mistake.

And I never said I married her for money, papers or any other reason. I loved her, wanted to help her so we skipped the living together before marriage part and went right into it after a 2 year relationship

None the less I do like this forum and I thought a lot before asking this question because I already knew some people would start stupid arguments. I have been here for a while and even though I barely post I am always around.
Like I said before these questions just came out of curiosity, but it could actually be a real situation, for ex. You had an old flame in Colombia all your life but because you were in the US you never pursued that love, later in your life you decided that your life was not going were you wanted with another person because you still had that old love.
I know it sounds like a novela but it could happen :)
