OBLIGATIONS BETWEEN THE MARRIED COUPLE

According to the article 176 of the Colombian civil code, man and wife are obligated to be loyal between them and to help each other during the time of living together.

The following is the list of rights and obligations of the couple-

1. Man and wife have a common guidance of the house. This right can be done by a single member when the other one is missing.
2. Man and wife have the obligation to live in the same house, with the exception of a previous order of court.
3. Man and wife can choose their place of residence.
4. Due to the marriage, the marital society is created. IN CASE OF a marriage celebrated outside Colombia, the marital society will be not presumed in Colombia.
5. The married woman has the free administration of her assets.

Once you have violated one of these rules, you can ask for the divorce. For that matter, you have to prove the cause and wait for a decision of the court.
