As a compromise when I joined this community, was to help answer some legal questions.
This week’s case is about a common problem. For example an US citizen gets married in Colombian with a girl from there. After some time he leaves the country because he doesn’t love her any more. So when he goes back to his country, he meets a new woman. And marry her. But his wife (Colombian) knows this situation.
Colombian law is clear to say that a second wedding in invalid when you have your first one without a legal separation.
The result can de dangerous to the man. She can get 50% of his assets including the ones in America. Make a judge to declare him guilty of the divorced and order to send her money for her expenses.
I recommend that if you are in this situation or you don love your couple anymore, please get legal items in order.
If you want more information, or make an appointment my email is colombianlawyers2006 at yahoo.com.
I work all areas of law, especially family, civil, administrative procedure, Colombian visas, contracts, and creation of commercial societies in Colombia, including taxes.
See you next week with another advice

miamimike says on Aug 13, 2006, 21:04: Estaban, a question por favor I have a Lady friend in Bogota whose Brother's wife(another bogotana) left several years ago to move to Miami(still married legally in Colombia-never divorced). In Miami, she married twice all the while never divorcing her Colombian Husband who still lives in Bogota. Does HE have a right to any property, money ect his wife has accumulated here in Miami. This is a fairly common practice as I have seen other cases the same as this, your opinion please. Thanks "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
