getting better says on Jan 10, 2008, 13:35: As a British person who has sympathy for the objectives of the Irish republican movement I believe that the experience in Northern Ireland showed that defeating the IRA militarily to a large extent then negotiating seemed ultimately to be the best solution. Whilst the situation in Colombia is very different, there are some things in common (as indeed the connections between the IRA and FARC showed).
