Ecuadorian government cannot complete anything without its eastern most neighbor, so not a worry...Venezuela, we desire our jets back, so just as easy for an excuse to step in, take out the leadership (That's to the left), remove the aircraft & give to Colombia and/or let the military leadership re-establish reforms, build up a new transit aircraft base to replace Manta then return the troops back to the states. Majority of military generals cannot stomach a war with its friends/allies to the west (Colombia), so this an easy fix before everything potentially gets out of hand in the future.

so, here's what could happen...chavez sends his troops across the border and they make their way towards cali, medellin, bogota, etc....but first, they get held up with immigration, then find out they don't have any pesos or credit to pay for the ruinious fuel prices for their tanks.

trying to fly into bogota with their new russian jets, they find themselves in holding paterns since the air control system sucks.

finally, reduced to walking and thumbing rides, they are releaved of all their belongings by street urchins and ladrones.

now, down to thier last few dollars, they buy bagfuls of hot pan de bono and arepas simple (5 for a dollar on any street corner) and join the hordes of unemployed and displaced beggers and vendors lining the avenues.

dispirited and objects of derision by one and all (including themselves) they offer to kill themselves but are denied permission from DAS since they lack the proper identification and ingress/egress records. also, none of their original invasion paperwork has been properly notorized or officially blessed by the church.

a few stragglers manage to make their way to ibague where they finally succumb to the really, really, i mean really, bad food at the bus terminal cafes.

chester says on Mar 5, 2008, 05:18:

oh yeah, chavez is later found dead in bogota when he freezes to death standing in line waiting for a f'ng visa interview at the US embassy and having had to breath the polluted air. (the autopsy is inconclusive as to to whether the tears found in his eyes are from the pollution or disapointment in his own judgement)

services are later held in san andres where all is needed is a valid passport.

I understand that you are just baiting Americans with your comments, but if you are going to dis the U.S. use some verbal skills and not the moronic crap you just spilled about the U.S. flag. You are such a child.

Think for a complete second if you can...where would Canada be without the U.S. which is Canada's, largest trading partner? What has the U.S. ever done to Canada to deserve you childish wrath besides letting them have the French?

Try being a leader instead of a follower with your comments. This board is about Colombia and not about the U.S. The U.S. has given millions of $ to help Colombia. What has Canada done? Zip! And without the U.S., Canada wouldn't enjoy the welfare and socialistic freedoms it has. You and Chavez...same same. Another idiot with no sense.

And one last thing...why don't your women shave?

It is not life that matters, but the journey.

I couldn't help it. I was once madly in love with a woman from Canada. She was actually pretty thoroughly shaven, but for some reason very very defensive about what she perceived were false American stereotypes of Canadians which included her belief that all Americans think Canadians live in igloos.

"Because I´m a proud Canadian", she replies. "My Mum and Dad are Canadian, so I must be Canadian".
The teacher frowns. "And if you´re Mum and Dad were morons, would that make you a moron?"

Waterdawg,

I´ve no idea how many young American servicemen are buried on European soil. Probably as many as a couple of hundred thousand if you include WW1 too. Maybe more.
But there aren´t as many as there are young British servicemen. Remember that WW1 started in 1914 and WW2 in 1939 and our history is full of European wars going back to the middle ages.
Now, if you´re going to get into that "We bailed your asses out" stuff, we´re very grateful. I only knock other nationalities if it´s in gest or I´m responding in kind. I like Americans in general. I also like Canadians and...even the Irish. I´m not vomitting on Old Glory, wiping my arse with a maple leaf, or telling jokes about thick Paddy´s (sorry Ray).

Desi Quote: Chavez and Uribe have been described as "two of the most inflated egos in South America". No wonder they can't get along.

I've spent years in Colombia, never heard a description of Uribe that would even come close. Chavez,, yes although mostly using terms like "problem" or "fool" or idiot.

A search of the internet using terms – (Chavez Uribe "inflated ego") gets 31 hits but they refer to Chavaz. Using Chavez "inflated ego" gets over 1,000.

Interesting, using "idiot chavez" gets 1,300 hits and "idiot uribe" gets three,, but one was a white sox post and the other two were from poor but happy, however the words idiot and uribe were close together but the context indicated Chavez was the idiot.

So, it's not at all common, frankly,, it would be considered rare.

Defending a Democratic country from political overthrow is NOT egotistic. Not giving into demands made by "illegal" groups (terrorists?) is NOT egotistic.

Chavez, I see it all the time, or words to that affect.

Uribe I hardly ever see his name mentioned outside of Colomban related articles.
