Last minute info needed

OK- I know I should have checked this out before the day before I needed the info, But....
Anyone know:

Do Notarios perform marriages on Sat. or Sun., and is Friday, November 11 any kind of holiday that would prevent a marriage from being performed?
I go to Chicago tomorrow for my Poder Especial(see why I said last minute? I actually did not know I needed an exact date until this morning).
Thanks,
Maureen

Notarias I'm not sure what you are asking for. Some notaries (at least in Bogota) do open on Saturday.

Check this website. The notary 19 opens all saturdays from 9am to 1pm

Also check Notaria 44: (It seems like they open on Saturdays too)

Humm I can only speak from MY experience but the "Exact Date" seems to be the day you WANT to get married in Colombia. If you are off by a day or two, I don;t think it makes any difference.

It was the same when my wife applied for a tourist visa, they ask on the application the Date you plan on traveling but it is not set in stone.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but use it as a GUIDE. As long as you plan on getting married within a day or two of the date you listed on your application, it shouldn;t be a problem.

Please Remember.... Colombian notaries are not at all like the ones in the USA. A VERY important position and their services are required to complete many official transactions. THEY ARE USUALLY VERY BUSY AND VERY CROWDED.

Notario You can actually hire your Notario to conduct a private ceremony in any place you choose, you can call and set it up with them directly. Of course you pay for that service but it is not much and the benefits are HUGE. It can take place where you are having your reception, if you are having one; it can happen after hours and on a weekend. Very handy. If you have any other questions PM me.
Good luck

That depends on the notaria. They are independent beings and do exactly what they want to do. Some will and some won't, neither for love nor money.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Thanks to all of you I did find out the poder especial sample I had was just that- a sample! I can leave out the exact date even though it was on the sample someone sent me. You are all to kind for your prompt replies, and PM.
So tomorrow, off to the Chicago Consulado to get that done, and then send all my other papers to my novio and hope for the best. You all will eventually get me married off!
