Lasik in Cartagena or thereabouts?

Hello,

I'm coming to Colombia in September for about two weeks, and I hope to get Lasik while I'm there. Although I know the best Lasik clinics are in Bogota, most of the stuff I want to see is in the north (Cartagena, Santa Marta, Ciudad Perdida, etc.), and I don't want to waste time hanging about Bogota, or spend money flying back and forth (I'd have to fly since I'm so short of time). Does anyone have tips about Lasik clinics in Cartagena, Santa Marta or Barranquilla? Any experience with them? If they have pretty bad reputations, I'll just go to Bogota. But if not...

Or maybe you can tell me if Bogota is worth a few days' stay?

Thanks for any tips.

Pauline, in view of what youre travel plans are, I would recommend Bucaramanga at Dr. Galvis“s clinic. Hes one of the original pioneers of laser eye surgery and heads the hospital dedicated to eye science. And u can take the bus from Santa Marta straight shot to Bucaramanga, ( about 10 hrs, I believe) U know the Ciudad Perdida trip takes 5-6 days, right??

Keep in mind, some reputable eye Docs will advise against any air travel immediately after the Lasik Surgery since you are traveling for the surgery as the Doc will have you come back at the very least for a few follow up exams the first few weeks after the surgery, especially considering you are from out of country. If you are on a limited time schedule, that should be a major factor guiding your trip~where, when , activity, ect. You certainly don't want to stray too far from the City & Clinic where you have the Lasik should a complication arise where you need to get back to the Doc ASAP for a couple weeks. Docs here in the States dislike nothing more then having to see a Doctor's patients from out of country operations unless they have(and some do) a Doc Associate based in the states where his patients can go in the event the need Post-op follow work. And it does happen,,,

Best eye clinc is Clinc de Bosque and the #1 doctor is Dr. Giovanna Facchini
Email is: facchinigiovanna at yahoo.com. She is Italian Colombian, she travels to all of the American and Eurpoean conferences and symposiums. She knows her her business. If your eyes are not suitable for Lasik, she'll tell you so... After all, you do not want bad results.
