Las voces del secuestro

I was wandering around the internet last night and came across this site: http://www.lasvocesdelsecuestro.com/index.asp It's fascinating in a horrible way! It has a list of all the kidnapped people and what happened to them, listed in alphabetical order. It also has list of those killed, freed and disappeared. They state that at present there are 4200 captives in Colombia.

Interesting site Or perhaps "intense" would be a better word to describe; I found several of the articles fascinating.

Geez UC Interesting site, I bookmarked it. But honestly, I will NEVER show it to anyone I know here in the States. It was hard enough to get them to stop worrying about "dangerous Colombia." I swear if they saw that site they'd really freak out on me.

I didn't have a chance to show it to my wife and see what she thinks. She knows several people who were kidnapped and later freed.

I wondered the same thing, Tinto. Yet there are messages there from friends and relatives hoping that they are still alive even years later. There were a few cases of mistaken identity where people were kidnapped thinking they were someone else and the family was even inviting the kidnappers to their houses to prove they didn't have what they thought they had. Other cases of children aged 2 or 4 being kidnapped.

Jeepers creepers this thread is gonna scared the crap outta feature visitors to Colombia. I understand if you’re gringo with money coming outta your ass, but most here are broke ass modefoques, by gringo standards, useless to any armed group in Colombia. I personally don’t worry at all, and I hit places in Colombia middle class northern barraquilleros dare not visit because I know that I will be of no financial gain, and as a matter of fact might be a big burden to those modefoques, they’ll have to feed my hungry sorry ass. Even if they decide to kill me, they could clearly see I’m not even worth the price of a bullet, they’ll probably whack me with a machete.
The choice of visiting Colombia is best left to each individual, please don’t go by my experience, I lived Colombia’s utter poverty and know how to act around people involved in criminal activities which helps me become less of a target.
I’ll continued traveling back home and eventually stay for good. Up to now my biggest concern is whether I’m gonna have enough money for hookers and booze.
Final advise, keep your ass in upscale areas of major cities and you’ll have the greatest time of your life, no need to wonder off to south Barranquilla, south Bogotá etc. You think all those Colombian girls posted all over the place come from poor towns, hell no, they’re all middleclass broads dying to meet gringos. The girls in poor areas are a bit on the gruesome side, ok, some are diamonds in the rough, but not many. I like girls from the south because they got big asses and some missing teeth, but that’s what I like.

over 5 million colombianos in USA and only 27 barranquilleros, i'm one. CURRAMBA, EL MEJOR VIVIDERO DEL MUNDO!

Great site That's a great project and I think it's good to keep attention drawn to the vast number of people other than the "celebrity" victims who are out there.

I have to question the number of 4200 people currently held captive, though. Even if you figured a conservative ratio of 4 captors to every captive, that would mean there are almost 17,000 people in Colombia who do nothing but guard/care for kidnapping victims. So either someone has a big prison camp full of hundreds or thousands of captives hidden out there in the jungle, or many of those people are now lying in shallow graves with a hole in the back of their head.

Related comment on violence Right after I checked out UC's link to the site, I read EL HERALDO, and on the front page it jumped out of the computer screen and felt like a dagger in my heart; long story short...yesterday in Barranquilla, a little girl was killed because she was in the wrong place (poor ass part of Quilla) at the wrong time (when some corroncho bad guy was settling a score with some other bad corronchos) and his method of settling the dispute was throwing a freaking hand granade into a shop, injuring several and killing la niña. God Bless her.
