Language course at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellin

Just found the website of this course:

http://convena.upb.edu.co/~cdelenguas/ele.html

http://convena.upb.edu.co/~cdelenguas/4iexplorer/index.html

I don't know anything about this uni or its courses, but like the fact that campus is in Laureles. In my opinin a very nice neighborhood and much better and cheaper to live there than in Poblado (where EAFIT is located)

Anyone has any first hand experience about this uni?

Looks pretty good, though 10 students per class is a bit high. Im also looking into this place, along with eafit or neuvalengua. $500 for 1 month is pretty good. Thanks for the links

I have been there to sign up..........I have not done the course yet.............they ADVERTISE a maximum of 10 per class........but never reach that amount..............usally the classes are two to four people at a time..............the price I understood to be $250.........not $500.......

.........Its useless to argue with ignorance

Thats cool raaay, do you know approx how much accomodation would be?

And the $500 was for the intensive course, not the semi-intensive.

I tried emailing the address on there and got a delivery failure.

I heard very positive things about this university. I have not studied there myself but I know a guy that did. I think he paid something like 13.000 COP an hour for private classes. Maybe he was just lucky but in general the classes are 2-3 people depending on demand and your level. Eafit is more expensive.

Thanks for the links. I live about 6 blocks from UPB. In May I sent them an E-mail asking about Spanish classes. They never bothered to respond.

This is their main web site: http://www.upb.edu.co/portal/page?_pageid=55,1&_dad=portal&_schema=POR...

La Bolivariana is , in several respects, the best university in Medellin. My brother went to medical school there, before going on to residences at Albert Einsntein and Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. I have numerous friends and relatives that attended Bolivariana. It is a "pontificia", like la Javeriana in Bogota, where I graduated. That means it is a Catholic school. However, one doesn't need to be Catholic to attend (just like it is a Georgetown, or Notre Dame) and the presence of the church is very much behind the secenes. The academic level is high. The place is run in a no-nonsense disciplined way. That is not an endorsement of this specific course.

are EAFIT and UPB on opposite sides of town?

UPB is in Laureles about 10 blocks down la 70 from the Estadio Metro stop and across from the Unicentro Mall. EAFIT is in Poblado. They are 15 to 30 minutes apart by taxi depending upon traffic.
