Hi Lisa. Medellín was in a "state" to say the least. There were many somber moments and times of blood thirsty cries (1st video). All in all the sense of unity and solidarity was enormous and the message is loud and clear.

Even far away from the march, afterwards, where folks were working and taking care of their lives and not wearing the T-shirts, you could just tell the whole city was looking at each other with a knowing look I cannot explain. That something is still in the air.

The 3rd video won't be uploaded for a while. I'm going to sleep.

Totally agree GIB. However this is the Medellín thread! Just kidding.

Yeah the photos can't really tell the story, however the videos help a little. There was such an angst and yearning for peace.

GIB just kidding. Bogotá as usual got a great deal of TV coverage but the whole country was involved and many parts of the world. Results.... Hmmmmm

Thanks Ms Saucey re the fotos. Although I have many favourites (The woman from behind in crutches clutching a flag) and although I will remember this day for the rest of my life, fotos or no fotos, nothing matters more than some gain of promise towards a real, irrevocable resolution.

Results cannot happen overnight, for all sides are rooted in for 40 years. But no one is asking for miracles in a day. But some forward non reversable progress soon is a must. Yesterday was the start of some good momentum. Just how long will it take for the FARC to realize what a vast minority they are? Maybe they should jump ship and settle in over at Uncle Hugos. But first leave what's not yours behind.

But seriously what possible solution? Why would the FARC just bail out and relocate to Venezuela, where they are accepted and may gain politial status under Chávez, and leave all the lucrative drug business behind? What would happen if the Col govt allowed, in return for no more terrorism, free the hostages etc... that the FARC to continue as a business entity - the gov secretly looking in the other direction as to not stir up the world for allowing/condoning the drug trade.

What do they do what that dirty money? Get such inflated egos that they want to be taken seriously as a political party or government entity? Hew wait a minute - not such a good idea.

Obviously I am not writing about a 100% serious solution. But human sides involved have had the same agenda for so long - with not so much budging. Something has to change and if not the sides than something else that effects one or both sides. What would happen if suddenly there was 0 demand for cocaine? A new drug comes out that is cheaper, legal? It could not be produced in Colombia.
