K 1 visa HELP!!!!

Hello, My future wife has recieved notice of Bogota recieveing her packet. They notified her that she will the docs that is necessary for the appointment. My question is why they did not give her a date. Will this be mailed later? I guess I am asking what is the next step. Is the only notification is the Bogota US embassy website? Thanks

Maybe someone that has done this more recently could help you more, but if I recall correctly she has to fill out the papers in the packet, police report exc. and then send them in. They will then give a date. But its been several years. Im a little fuzzy on that part. I would call to be sure. It seems to me there is a pay telephone number you can call to ask questions.

After all the requested documents are returned, checked and verified she will be given the date

Gator summarized it.

I assume she received what is known as packet 3. Yes, she needs to fill out everything and accumulate exactly what is asked for. Then send it in. Faxing the documents is also acceptable. In my opinion, fax them and then send them - of course keeping a copy of everything for yourself (herself). The unwritten rule is that if the embassy receives her documents (package 3) by the 20th of any given month, it pretty much guarantees a following month interview.

I can't remember what the exact address is, but you can find out what case numbers have interview dates up to 2 or 3 weeks before your fiance receives her final package #4 which contains the interview date. Just Google it and you should find what I am talking about pretty quick. In other words, if your fiance has sent her package 3 and faxed it before the 20th of January, give it 10 days or so and start checking the embassy interview date schedule. This will give you a little more time to plan.

BEWARE of gold diggers.

There is a paper in packet three and one form that she has to fill out. The list of items are things she was to collect before she enters the embassy. When she sign her name on the form, it is a guarantee that she has collected everything that she was suppose to collect and it can be faxed in along with a bio form. I forgot the form number. Then they will post the date on the internet but not before. As Mark started, if it can be submitted before the 20th, her intervew will be the following month. But she will probably have to go to bogota to get packet 4 in time for the interview and needs to do the doc visits and vacs while the day after she has picked up pack 4.
