I´m a 26 yr old male from London, I´ll be in South America until February. I´m in Medellin at the moment where I plan to learn some spanish (maybe a month at the EAFIT University? although I might have to wait another week before they can get me on a course). I´m staying with a local family at the moment and they´re really great but I´d like to move out and be a 26 year old without being a loudmouthed gringo fool.
In a few days I´m going to see Medellin playing football with the locals that run this internet cafe who are quite funny.
I just wondered if anyone has advice on where to go for fun, learning spanish, people I should meet, places to get good food, places to rent for a month or anything else.
Where should I go once I leave Medellin?
Maybe you´re in the area and want to hook up?
Thanks.

She is a big help and super hot. The good place to start for bars is Parque lleres - lots there. Near there is a bar called Folio, Tierradentro, and Santos. All great places. Also great in Sabeneta, try Pueblo, and the new disco which is awsome called Palmaiai.

fullpopper says on Oct 20, 2006, 09:50: Stay indoors or head up to the hills ! Head out to 12 de Octobre or any of the Barrio Populares. Any cab driver would know how to get there. Bottom line, the further you get up the hills of Medellin the better. Make sure it is BARRIO POPULARES. Don't go there until the sun goes down. That way you get the beat of the city. Make sure, you don't lock the doors. They might give you cold stares, maybe even pull a gun or a knife. That is their way of welcoming you to their barrios. Go and get yourself acquainted by asking them to play football. That way they know you come in peace. You can order them a liter of Aquardiente and a round of Pilsen for everyone. Now, they are cheering you on. Maybe you will have the hood rats waiting in the side trying to get your attention. They don't see many gringos in this parts. You will be the talk of the town. You not only save lots of money, cheap booze and get lots of tail.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Peter Miami says on Oct 20, 2006, 13:38: Parque Yero and El Tesoro (spelling0 Go to El Parque "Yero" (spelling) it is very nice with good people. There are a lot of bars, restaurants and dance clubs. There are also a lot of people hang out. El Tesoro (spelling) mall in El Poblado a very nice area the mall is beautiful. There are also nice dance clubs around that area. Medellin is very beautiful and a lot of things to do. Just make sure you ask the locals where to go. The places I have told you are safe but there are some risky areas.
