the colombia moda is in Medellin, the convention next to the govertment buildings. The shots were NOT offical runway shots for new designer, it was just a show that a booth put on. If i know when the runway shows are i will definitely attend. Actually there a LOT of nice looking chicks attending the shows, not just the models themselves.

bad news guys! Found out last night that the main parade of models was the first night of the show(tuesday night) it was at parque de luz. UGGGHH!!! came all the way for that and missed it(i thought it was last night and brought my wide angle and zoom lense to take fotos. Looks like i ll have to come back next year!

Attending the show provided me with some good information on business potential and the challenges and obstacles.

For those of you guys that asked about meeting girls or models. The answer is, i suppose it can be done, fairly easy it guess. It was easy for me to meet the young cute desingers than the models. Personally i didnt want to meet the models because they require to much work and attention i would think. YOu probably need to take them to parties(ie mangos) and spend some money. It much easier to meet the cute regular girls that work or attend the show. Again, i didnt really make an effort to do that either.

Since i ll be coming back to medellin in a few months to drum up business, and if everythings goes well, i ll be working inside the industry with the designer themselves.

PS. Most people attending the show are from COL, i didnt see to many attendies(beside exhibitors) that are from US or Europe. So this is fairly a regional(s america) show.

I went to Universal discotech near Mangos, because several designer fr the colombia moda told me that people fr the show will go there then go to Mangos later to party and if i wanted to see hotties then check it out. Me and another boardmember went to Universal around 11pm. It is not bad, no cover cool music, go go dancer then live music. Of course the drinks are expensive, a bottle of ron medellin is 120k, bottle water is 3.3k.

Anyway, saw three cute girls, started talking with them in spanish, but one spoke back in english. Turns out she COL-AMERICAN who lives in Miami, she just arrived 4 yrs ago, but originally fr Medellin and comes back a lot to visit her friends. So i asked her how are the COL guys in Miami compare to COL. She said she doesnt like any, she prefer CUBAN GUYS! OHHH!!! She said the cuban guys are better looking and got their shit togehter(i didnt go into detail what that ment), but she said she never dates COL guys in Miami. I am thinking to myself if there ever was a time for COLX(or ELMO) to be around, its right now to set that girl straight!

i was having lunch when couple of cute chicas decide to sitdown next to me and we started talking. then couple of COL guys showed up to buy them lunch. Alas, it was obvious that the chicas that i meet were special friends of the two business guys..ahh to be a guy and have money in COL! Turns out that those guys work for a internal transportation company so we started talking about logistic of bring stuff fr into the country. they then introduced me to another shipping that specialize in shipping stuff INTO COL fr other countries. So i got a full education on how everything works and what it cost. Sometimes you make great business contact fr the most offbeat way(trying to meet chicas!)..

On the business front i found out lots of info on how to ship stuff into col and the cost and what it takes. Unfortunately i also found out that COL just recently(2 weeks ago) put restriction on certain products fr the far east so it cost more and takes more time to get stuff into COL. Apparently instead of permiting stuff to come into buenadventura which is cheaper, you must bring it into BAQ if your items are on the restricted listed.

final thought on COL fashion.. I notice in the show, lots of women were wearing white skirts or linen pants, the clothes that the visitor wore were definitely on average a little bitter more hip than the clothes in the street that regular girls and women wear. Its HIGH fashion in the show and HO fashion in the streets!

I actually talked with many of the designer themselves, so i got a little inside look at how they choose certain fabrics and why. They were all very accomdating and friendly.

I notice that the majority of the buyers(and visitors) are colombians NOT foreigners. So they still have a long ways to go before they become a milan, paris or new york type show.
