Journalists in Colombia

Hi! I am new to this website, I just found it, and this is my first posting. I like the variety of topics covered, and, for the most part, the tone of interchange between posters.

Does anyone know anyone (writer, photographer, editor, sales, etc etc) who is employed with the Associated Press or the AFP in Colombia? If that is too narrow a circle, then how about anyone who works at those two agencies anywhere in South America? If you don't know of anyone personally...perhaps you know someone who knows someone, etc. Come on, let's network! I know it's a lot to ask from a new member, but as an experienced traveller and journalist myself, I have a lot to offer future posters. Many thanks to you all! Colombia is amazing!

Used to know tv journalist But he had the leave the country (coverage of the "wrong" thing). I do know that reporters without borders operates in Colombia so perhaps that is another avenue to pursue.

You might get some ideas here 1. check out www.colombiaweek.org The site is not updated as frequently as it used to be, but I think a couple of the editors/writers are freelance journalists in Bogotá

2. perhaps our new member "toby" (see posts in the Politics and War forum) can steer you in the right direction. It appears that he, too, is a freelance journalist in Bogotá

This might not be welcome information but here goes... Desde 1977 y hasta enero de 2005, fueron asesinados 154 periodistas en Colombia, segun estadisticas recopiladas por la Defensoria del Pueblo.
