José Marie Córdova Airport

I might have to fly into this airport with a few hour layover. Where exactly is the airport located (neighborhood)? Is it safe? is there anything you could do in 6 hours around there?

Rionegro Jose Marie Cordova Airport The airport in located in a city called Rionegro. Rionegro is approx 45min from Medellin. A taxi into Medellin is 40,000 Mil COP which is approx $18 USD. I would defiantly head into Medellin for a few hours.

BxUnika I would just go out to a restaurant outside the airport, or take a trip to Llano Grande.

To reach the outskirts of Medellin will take 30 mins, it will cost you 80,000 plus pesos to get to Medellin and return to the airport, you could get stuck in traffic, I would leave Medellin for another day.

bxunika... there sure is, take a taxi out to the glorietta in front of the airport and there you'll find two estaderos (outdoor/openair restaurants).. if you go straight to the other side of the circle, you'll come to estadero encanto next to a 4 story hotel. it's great, you can eat, drink and chat with folks. the other, go around the circle and to the left, going to rio negro, is one on your right. also enteresting. i cant think of it's name right now, sorry. but you can easily spend your time hanging out and eating and drinking and chatting with folks. also in the hotel, santiago de armas, there's a bar and a good restaurant. it's owned by a friend of mine, guerillmo. say hello from douglas the gringo.

happy lay-over.

Medellin Is ToFar. Guarne and Rio Negro are two close by town that have restaurants but depends on what time you arrive. The Las Lomas Hotel, on the left hand side just after you leave the airport is very nice. Good restaurant and bar.

These choices would be better than the 30 km drive into Medellin, especially after dark-though the view of Medellin as you come down the mountains is worth it.

What do to As the previous posters have indicated the airport is outside the city in a rural area, there's nothing in that area. You may take a taxi for example to Rionegro (a town). But that's all. I suggest you take a taxi to Las Lomas hotel and have lunch or whatever there. It's a Sheraton Hotel and you can at least walk around the place.

Plenty of people from Medellin go out to Rio Negro for the day. It's not as though there is nothing to do or see there.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
