PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
I just graduated from college and I spent the summer in Medellin. I fell in love with the city and would love to move there for a while. Does anybody know if there are any resources for American citizens looking for jobs in Colombia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

utopiacowboy says on Aug 3, 2006, 21:18: Yes, they have a special affirmative action program and set aside a certain number of jobs for displaced gringos. I guess they feel that the poor wretches have so little, it's the least that they can do. Peter (Moderator) says on Aug 5, 2006, 11:22: Jobs Really depends what you're looking for. Medellin is still a "small" city in many ways, you'll get much much more job opportunities in Bogota. But teaching English, yea, that's always a possibility. Poor but snappy 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Greg444 says on Aug 6, 2006, 07:16: Teaching English sucks Lets put this idea to rest once and for all, easy to talk about, bit ever try to tech English? ever see an actual class in Colombia? You know what times he classes are? Most times are when Colombians have free time early in the morning 7am , or 7pm, or Saturdays and Sundays, you want to work those shitty times? Anyway you will probably go nuts after 2 weeks , let alone try doing it for a year.

Rubiazo says on Aug 6, 2006, 23:20: Actually those hours wouldn't bother me much. What WOULD bother me would be having to work at 8 or 9am like everybody else and having to go through rush hour twice a day 5 times a week. Eff that! I dunno how people do it here either!
