Jobs in Medellin

I just graduated from college and I spent the summer in Medellin. I fell in love with the city and would love to move there for a while. Does anybody know if there are any resources for American citizens looking for jobs in Colombia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they have a special affirmative action program and set aside a certain number of jobs for displaced gringos. I guess they feel that the poor wretches have so little, it's the least that they can do.

Hey man,
Give me a private Hey man,

Give me a private email - I am much like you and lived there before leaving for assignment elsewhere, returning in September...Point is, I went there with nothing and left with an army of knowledge...I may know someone, shoot me an email with some straight info and about your ideas...I know that city well and would like to learn more!

FYI, UCI graduate, independently went to U de A in Medellin, returning to Bogota first week of September.

Send me an email ryan.mykita at gmail.com

Best,

Ryan

Jobs Really depends what you're looking for. Medellin is still a "small" city in many ways, you'll get much much more job opportunities in Bogota. But teaching English, yea, that's always a possibility.

Poor but snappy

Teaching English sucks Lets put this idea to rest once and for all, easy to talk about, bit ever try to tech English? ever see an actual class in Colombia? You know what times he classes are? Most times are when Colombians have free time early in the morning 7am , or 7pm, or Saturdays and Sundays, you want to work those shitty times? Anyway you will probably go nuts after 2 weeks , let alone try doing it for a year.

Idea goes BUST.

Actually those hours wouldn't bother me much. What WOULD bother me would be having to work at 8 or 9am like everybody else and having to go through rush hour twice a day 5 times a week. Eff that! I dunno how people do it here either!

Aside from teaching English or can be self-employed somehow or if you work for a multinational that would transfer you there I don't see too much opportunity in Medellin. I assume you could get shit jobs at minimum salary without much trouble but the more the job pays the less openings there are gonna be.
