It’s been a long time but I’m finally going back!!

Guys I’m so happy it’s unbelievable after more than a decade here in the UK I’m finally going back to my country! Yesterday all my papers came through I’m now able to go back with no problems whatsoever you cannot imagine how relieved I feel right now my mother and I were crying like babies last night after everything that we have been through it will be sad for my mother though because she lost both of her parents right after we came to England and she couldn’t go to Colombia for their funeral so it will be hard for her to go back and know that they are not there anymore but I’m planning to take her everywhere after 12 years she deserves a break and that’s what we are planning to do so now I’m just counting the days!! I’ll be there in the next couple of months and will stay there for a little while say about 3 months or so and then I’m off to Miami for a nice vacation and to visit my husband’s family.

So now I’m just planning my trip, and I need you guys to help me out where should I go what should I do?? So many questions to be answered please help! I haven’t been there for so long it feels like I’m going on vacation to a totally different country, I now for sure that I won’t be able to recognise it, it’s been such a long time, I bet everything is different and I feel so excited and privileged to be able to go back! After what we’ve been through this means a lot to me and my family! it’s an amazing feeling and I just can’t stop smiling!

I'm confused. I thought if you went back one of your cousins was going to have you whacked? Is he still going to put a hit on you? Or did he decide not to?

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Mrs Gomez think again You talk extensively about the pain you went through as a refugee.

[Deleted due to pure speculation regarding what a poster thinks, and it's stated in such a way that it's a personal insult. LondonMale/Kerry - you've had ample warning.]

Me and my wife and baby have to live in my parents house because I could not afford to pay the rent on a flat in London. No chance of a council flat that is for the priveleged few called refugees.

[deleted] well the bigger picture is that for hundreds of years the people of Colombia in positions of power have decided that to take bribes is better than the security of thier own people. The reason Europe is not so corrupt is because people in authority decided to be responsible and serve thier own people. You should look at Colombia like a father. A father that was very nice but deep inside he never really cared. Britain as a nation has achieved what it has because of the real love of peoppple wnating to do thier jobs properly to make a safer nation. The romantic notion you have of your country is not realistic if you have to run out of it and no one can help.

lmcb I could spend copious amounts of energy on a lengthy response, but I believe you are intentionally being inflammatory.

One question: what has this to do with her vacation?

BlondeJamesBond says on Feb 10, 2005, 16:09:

Londonmalecomesback As far as I can tell MrsG has a job and does indeed pay her taxes; taxes which, may I add, are eagerly distributed by our benevolent goverment to bogus asylum seekers and the plenty of useless, workshy, indigenous British dossers.

*What you fail to mention is how thankful you should be that Britain as a country saved you and provided for you*

I believe she has implied, if not said this, on numerous occasions, since I started reading these forums anyway.

Infact given MrsG's background i'm almost proud of this country for taking someone in who was genuinely in need and, crucially, prepared to work hard to better themselves.

*Me and my wife and baby have to live in my parents house because I could not afford to pay the rent on a flat in London*

Free advice - get your parents to write your council a letter which states that they are kicking your broke ass' into the street, and wait to see the magic that follows.

Britain certainly does have crippling refugee problems, that need sorting out, but people like you, who with sweeping and ignorant statements, make all of us wanting a solution look bad. Anyone prepared to come and work and pay taxes are welcome in my country.

MrsG I salute you

Londonmalecomesback I shake my head at you

Ditto to Miguel Didn´t LondonMale write that he had to cancel a Colombian vaction short by 1 and a half months because of the rudeness of the Colombian people?
So, he can take months-long trips, but can´t afford an apartment?

Londonmale what the hell are you talking about? You don’t even know what I have been through in London and as for asylum seekers living off the government well that’s not really true since the government does not them permission to work, when I came about a decade ago we were lucky enough to be given work permits and have been working since then, we have never lived off the government and never had a council house because we have worked our butts off to provide for ourselves but my uncle wasn’t so lucky he made endless applications for work permits but were refused every time and that’s the reason he could not work so is that his fault? And don’t get me wrong I am very grateful because the UK government has helped us immensely but we have also been through shit to get to where we are! No one knows but us so please do not try to paint this pretty picture about asylum seekers living better than British citizens if you have not been through it yourself then you would not have any idea whatsoever what it’s really like, after all to get to where we are now we’ve been through a long process of humiliation from many people wanting to kick us out so many times. And I too am against bogus applications and people being to lazy to work but come on I too pay my taxes and they go straight to some alcoholic person’s pocket do you think that it’s fair for people to pay taxes so that the government can provide for alcoholics and drug addicts? I much prefer it if my money would go towards helping someone in great need and I know that asylum seekers are in some kind of need otherwise they wouldn’t be living their country, culture and family behind for a life of sadness? Because that is how every immigrant feels when he or she lives their country behind without being able to come back, I bet you would feel exactly the same…

And as for Colombia being like a bad father? What? What on earth are you talking about? I’m very proud of my country and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it because it’s not the country’s fault it’s the people that make it the way it is, but it’s my country and I’m privileged to be able to go back after all this time I’m just thrilled there’s no words that can describe how I feel!

But anyway what the hell has this got to do with me going on vacation?

And as for the rest of you guys, thanks for your posts they make me smile even more because I know that there are people out there than can really sympathise with me!
So keep your suggestions coming! I need to know where to go and what is there to do after all this time I’m just like any other tourist!

p.s. UTOPIACOWBOY my father has been busy trying to solve our little situation I think that his finally coming to an agreement with my cousins so I am not as wary as I was before but I will sure watch my back! After all you can’t trust no body!

good come-back Mrs. Gomez. I haven't posted here because I felt all along that you're fully capable of giving this londonmale/comesback/goesawayagain the right response.

I'm happy for you and glad that you'll be able to go back and visit your country and city again. Just be careful, ok? Being a "professional" immigrant I believe I know all the shades and flavors of nostalgia.

Cheers!

blondejamesbod and Desi thanks I know that I’m able to defend myself against these stupid comments that have nothing to do with my thread but I much prefer not to pay attention after all stupid comments are of no interest to me what really catches my eye are the comments and posts of people that are very supportive of me and that don’t intend to make me or any other people in this forum bad about themselves I think that’s just low and sadistic! Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinions and I’m not one to say otherwise but I won’t let anybody make me feel bad with what they say I have never allowed it and I probably never will, been through to much already to give a damn of what a total stranger thinks of me… if you know what I mean! Anyway as I said before it is nice to know that there are people out there that I can sympathise with.

Thanks for the P.S. Mrs. Gomez. Now I can just be happy for you. I know you will have a wonderful time.

??Lonmalekerry?? Or whatever you are calling yourself this week.

You are an offensive self opinionated little tangouniformromeodelta. I am ashamed that I am even in anyway associated with the country that spawned you.

Anyone on this site that can see through your worthless posts/answers has already informed you of the place that they would like you to go. Why do you not do yourself and the rest of us a great favour and go there? Are you so thick skinned that you cannot see that to all but a few, you are disliked in the extreme?

I would love to really say what I want to but at the first word it would be deleted.

Go to Iraq - or Afghanistan, they will love you there.

Being of unsound mind and dubious disposition, I cannot be held legally liable for any indiscretions."¡El diablo me hizo hacerlo!" But don't worry, be happy.

GRIN "I would love to really say what I want to but at the first word it would be deleted."

Just know that I am thinking the same. I was very tempted to delete that post yesterday when I saw it. But it is not breaking the rules as they are today. As I mentioned in another thread, you are free to complain with the Report a Problem link at the beginning of a thread. It comes closest to voting somebody off the island. It is difficult to do something about thread hijackers without applying censorship as well, which we are trying to avoid.
