I think I remember reading someone said it is cheaper to buy airline tickets in colombia. So if I wanted to go to bucaramanga is it better for me to buy a round trip ticket to bogota here in the states and then buy a ticket to bucaramanga when I get there? Or should I just get all my tickets here before I go? I might want to spend a couple days in bogota. I'm not sure yet. If I wanted to fly to bucaramanga the following day after I arrive in bogota is it a problem to buy the ticket same day as travel? Or are the flights usually booked?

Mr. Hollywood says on Aug 10, 2004, 11:59: answer one of the nice things in Colombia is that they don't price-gouge on last minute ticket purchases like they do in the USA. So you could conceivably buy your ticket the day of travel and it's not going to cost you a fortune. However, be really careful not to count on getting tickets at the last minute anytime around a Colombian holiday. Three day weekends are plentiful in this country and everyone flies somewhere. Book that kind of travel far in advance.

There are specific dates that apply, but check that out to see if that benifits you. I have been told it is cheaper to buy tickets here, but I am sure it all depends on the time of season and the travel agent or website you deal with also.

Mr. Hollywood says on Aug 11, 2004, 06:41: Operation Tortuga Last I heard the pilots of Avianca were engaging in a work slowdown (operación tortuga) as part of a labor dispute. You might want to look into if that's been resolved before planning your trip using them, no matter how great the deal looks.
