Is travelling to Mexico the same as travelling to the US from Colombia?

If you arrive by Air or Sea, yes you do need a passport. If you are driving into Mexico and just visiting the border towns less than 25 mi. into Mexican land you don't need a passport. if you are planning to go more than 25mi on a straight line from the border into Mexico you need passport and a permit.
