I am an American living in Cali and I need to go to Bogota on some business and I was wondering if anybody knew how safe it is to take a bus from the terminal here in Cali to Bogota during the day and then return the next day during the day. I read an article pasted from this site about the surrounding areas here being surrounded by Guerilla. I just want to save a few bucks and also am sick of airports. Also, does anybody recomend a particular busline. Thanks.

Gator says on May 5, 2006, 14:46: No Real Problem, stick to day light hours and it is a long trip. Lots of military patrols. Hope it is not foggy because crossing La Linea at 3.300 mtrs. is worth the trip. Take Expreso Palmira(there are other choices) and book one of the big S26 executive buses. Cost is around $40.000 pesos. This is the line Mrs. Gator's sisters use and have never had any problems. About 500 KM and 12/14 hours.
