Is this true or just a wet dream

Is this true or just a wet dream?
I have been trying to ship a moped here without paying the 40-50% duty with no luck.
Last week my brother in law flew to Miami and purchased 3
new mopeds. Had the dealer remove the front and rear wheels
and handle bars to ship in a different crate.
He says when they get to Bogotá they will be considered parts and no duty.
Is this true?

I have heard of something similar done. It might work. Some further dis-assembly may be required.
The parts should be in a separate shipments, so that the mopeds
can't be assembled into the motorcycles at any time. each
box of parts should be shipped on separate days.

Seems like more extensive disassembly is needed. Primarily seperating the Motor from the Frame to render it un-useable except for a lot of work! Give it a try! Good Luck!

On Sept 17, 2008: Senator John McCain said, as he had many times before, that he believed the fundamentals of the economy were "strong."Hours later he backpedaled, explaining that he had meant that American workers were Strong.

All depends who you ship with.......... and what pieces you ship in each package. I know freight forwarders that "don't" require a list of contents. Do your homework!

nope wont work First of all, when the bike is in just a few parts its considered , CBU,
you dont need an assembly license for that, but, you have to pay Vat, and the Dian for clearance.
Second if the bike is completely knocked down ,its considered CKD and you not only have to pay taxes but have to have an assembly license for that brand of bike.
My wife and I own an assembly plant,so I do know about this.
heck I have 16 2005 110cc mopeds I could have sold him here.very cheap and, he could have avoided all the problem he will have.
Last it is possible only if you bribe the right people, but even if you got them here getting them licensed for the street is the other problem, write me if you need more info.

haji is 100% correct............... getting any vehicle licensed for the street is "paprework city" in Colombia!!! Shipping is a minor detail.

Hey GringoinBucaramanga...
...Hope all is good
How is Bucaramanga? What's the vibe like? The women look great in that bucaros.com site. It seems pretty sophisticated. Are people in Bucaramange generally laid back? And the women, how "accessible" are they if you dress decent/good & not as ugly as others? Thanks in advance bud~
