Is this one of those clicy sites, where no one talks to you unless you already know each other?

Is it really true that no one out there knows anything about Leticia? Or am I right and this is just a freinds and people looking for lovers chat room. I am not just a new Gringo visitor. I have lived in Colombia for 6 years - three in the seventies and three in the nineties. I lived in the mountains above Jamundi en el Valle in the seventies and in Facatativa in the nineties. I am married to a Colombian woman who is a Biologist as well and a graduate of la Universidad National. I have did Biology work all over Colombia, Belize and Ecuador. But only one time in Leticia, where I am going to do some volunteer work. For this reason I was asking for help about Leticia and surrounding area. Some please respond even if its to say Hi welcome new guy and we don't know anything. Thanks Estebanf

Is this one of those sites? Dear Estebanf: This is an interesting site and you will find a host of replies that are; rude, and crude from Northamericans. Many responders take posts in a very personal manner. There seems to be a disproportionate amount of men to women. It is most interesting to figure out the age of responders by their responses. There seem to be a number of helpful responses. Welcome

Leticia Hi Esteban, as tinto has already pointed out, Nestor Raul would be your best contact about Leticia. Besides being a marine biologist I believe he has also lived in Leticia at some time. Join ColombiaExperts and place your question there and I'm sure he'll respond you,

What do you... want/need to know? Have been there four times. Not much to tell, small, say 25k, very "wild west" IMHO, one "main street" and, also IMHO, one decent hotel. BUT El Rio Grande makes it all worth while.
The surrounding area is jungle big time unless you want to stroll to Tabatinga on the Brazil side. Been back to Jamundi lately? If not you would not recognize it because of the big-time growth from Cali.

A la orden,

Gator

Gator, Would like to find Palmari Lodge connection. I am trying to find a way to contact to contact the lodge that a Miss Clements wrote about in the Leticia forum Called Palamari lodge. She gave an e-mail address but it keeps getting returned. See the forum on Palmari Lodge a few days ago. Or another place that I could rent (house etc.) or stay at for 4 months or morethats not so expensive as a hotel. Thanks allot. Estebanf
