Paisa29 maintains that this comment is not an insult when I called her out on writing insulting comments in Spanish. She's not the only one who does it and actually her insult is rather mild as PBSH goes. Nevertheless I do think that saying "leyendo las niñerias de algunos miembros, entonces me avisan si maduran y yo regreso" is an insult. Also I notice that in her comment to me about my Spanish she didn't actually translate her comment but instead said something slightly different in English. How stupid do you think we are? My question is: were her comments an insult or not?

Man Tequila says on Apr 13, 2007, 17:08: It's certainly a diss, a little weak to be an insult IMHO. Lots of folks resort to the "some members" fudge, though. These questions are always subjective, of course. utopiacowboy says on Apr 13, 2007, 17:42: Actually I agree with her and I would go further and say "leyendo las tonterÃas de algunos miembros' or "leyendo la basura de algunos miembros". What I don't like is they write it in Spanish as though it was a secret code to others "in the know" like we're too dumb to read it. OTOH, I think the whole site should be in Spanish - that would eliminate just about all the posts that they complain about as well as reduce the traffic on the site. ContinuarÃa escribir mis bobadas. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. |

billyb says on Apr 13, 2007, 22:29: UTC, you do have a point... if it (the site) went all spanish, it might mitigate the troll factor and still retain CMike's entertaining posts. And I say this as his first invited guest on a guided hike in the Serrania de Parija and being the dinner guest of honor where los "muchachos" would only use dull and rusty knives ;)

Man Tequila says on Apr 14, 2007, 00:03: I'm not a member of any webcam chat sites, Rubito. Frankly, I'm a busy guy, who wastes too much time here in the wee hours when work is slow. Internet chatting would do me in -- prefer the discussions at www.straightdope.com, where I have been posting for years. I'll accept your word, though. I'll take it for granted that you have done a thorough survey of all the working girls you could find, and verified your (preformed) hypotheses. Did you ask them which country was the most tacaño, while you were at it? How long does it take before you can identify all the webcam chat rooms in Bogotá, anyhow? Perhaps we hang with different folks. Man Tequila says on Apr 14, 2007, 12:29: Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure. On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be? Desideria (Moderator) says on Apr 14, 2007, 14:36: I didn't say "threaten" Gomez I said "blackmail" and they are two different things. DG said that he would stop posting if we didn't ban M_Clavo; that it was going to be either him or the other guy. I call it blackmailing. I don't ban people for having a difference of opinion, even if it's consistent. Personal attacks are not allowed, of course, but sometimes it's difficult to draw a line between bantering and insults. I personally have a very low tolerance for foul language but I believe that the standard NA way of expressing oneself is much more tolerant in that sense, but I will apply some type of middle ground criteria here. "I have opinions of my own, strong opinions, but I don't always agree with them."-President George W. Bush |

Gomezman5 says on Apr 14, 2007, 18:05: Well that's nice to know I did not even get anything from you that indicated you read it. But if you read it several times....I'm flattered. Look, my feelings were heartfelt and if I did not think you and Peter were going to take them seriously, I would not have taken the time to write them.
