Is This A Good Man to Lead Colombia??

Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe is, by his own admission, a man of the right. Unlike most recent Colombian presidents, Uribe is from the land-owning class. He inherited huge swathes of cattle ranching land from" his father Alberto Uribe", who was subject to an "extradition warrant" to face drug trafficking charges in the United States until he was killed in 1983," allegedly "by leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas." Alvaro Uribe grew up with the children of Fabio Ochoa", three of who became leading players in Pablo Escobar’s Medellín cocaine cartel.Sources say there are recent video tape acccounts from 2006 of him meeting in secret with "Drug Kingpins" and un-explained offshore bank accounts with millions of dollars shifted from one account to another un a bi-weekly basis with many transactions in Jan 2007...

this is old discussion, as well.... jus about everyone on pbh knows where everybody else stands, as far as supporting whether or not, Uncle Alvaro is a good man to lead Colombia.
It won't be too much longer. It doesn't appear that much change has taken place since the last inaugaration. And, people will quickly throw up their cards as to whether or not A.U. might be able to get the constitution changed yet again, to run for a third term. Most people's immediate charge will be: NO WAY!

But then, that's what they thought the first time around, as well.

Why Not Colombia?..........Stay Tuned, for more.... utterly worthless, self-indulgent gobbets of nonsense.

... I don't believe he is a good man to lead Colombia either, but my reasoning focuses more on his policies and attitudes than on the man's family and friends per se.

"Unlike most recent Colombian presidents, Uribe is from the land-owning class."

That he comes from the "land-owning class" is true enough, but I wouldn't state so categorically that recent Colombian presidents haven't owned varying amounts of land before.

"He inherited huge swathes of cattle ranching land "

He and his brothers. Uribe is not a single child.

" his father Alberto Uribe", who was subject to an "extradition warrant" to face drug trafficking charges in the United States until he was killed in 1983," allegedly "by leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas.""

Independently of the fact that this is an instance of the "guilt by association" fallacy (his father could be Hitler and it would be irrelevant), it's curious how nobody has managed to present an official source for that "extradition warrant". I'd suppose that it'd be easy enough to do so, if it actually existed, but strangely it hasn't surfaced. Extradition warrants are usually public documents after all.

"Alvaro Uribe grew up with the children of Fabio Ochoa", three of who became leading players in Pablo Escobar’s Medellín cocaine cartel."

And is allegedly "growing up" with the children of criminals an offense? Since when? Another instance of "guilt by association".

"Sources say there are recent video tape acccounts from 2006 of him meeting in secret with "Drug Kingpins" and un-explained offshore bank accounts with millions of dollars shifted from one account to another un a bi-weekly basis with many transactions in Jan 2007..."

Could you cite those sources then? Serious claims require serious evidence.
