Is there some law in place ?

In Medellin, I have been told that there is some sort of law in place to modernise the bus fleet. Bus owners and operators have been given a certain length of time to replace the existing old buses with enviormentally friendly ones. Does anyone know if this is in fact true ? Any information or facts would be most appreciated. Thanks.

yes, but now the routes for buses are seized becasue the new metroplus will use some of the, so the major doesnt want a competition between private and public transportation.

About the new buses, some companies are using new ones but only for certain trips.

Thanks, Is it true that there is a time deadline to get rid of the old buses. If so, does anyone know when this deadline is ?

Sngldyvr, it’s a good question. I hope the mayor of Medellin stops by here and give us an answer.
Yeah, but we need to get rid of all the old buses in Colombia, like right now!

You're the expert on all things Colombian, Sngldyvr. Why the hell are you asking us? Maybe you should read El Colombiano from time to time.

Well, this forum serves as a platform of information for those who do not know or do not want to read a newspaper.

Not sure this will answer your question, but it is a useful file on transportation plans for Medellin:
