Is there a complaints procedure for DAS (Medellin)?

You may laugh, but does anybody know if DAS have a complaints procedure?

I'm tired of visiting their offices and obviously they do not pick up the phone.

I would like to be able to talk to someone who is responsible for the DAS staff in the Medellin office.

Thanks in advance.

Even if there is such a thing would you really want make waves by complaining ,your in another country, a foreigner complaining on how they do their job, something tells me your name would get flagged and you would be put at the bottom of the list or your paperwork gets lost. They are all buddies in those offices and your the foreigner I wouldn't complain unless it was something really serious but that is just me.

Agree completely, you should go through the immigration process in the USA sometime and see how helpful we are to those who sit for hours for their appointment.

Thats why I use a facilitator like Catalina, as she does the majority of work.

The DAS office in Medellin is a pain in the arse and the famous fat Fanny is the worst.
If there is a problem, the best person to talk to is the senior there; I think she is refered to as the detective, or supervisor or something like that. Cannot think of her name but she is usually there and appears less intimidating than most, above average height for a Colombiana, probably mid-thirties, not massively overweight and has fairly long straight dark hair if that helps. If you remain calm with her rather than losing the plot, she can be very helpful and seems to know far more than the rest of them. She sorted a problem for me after fat Fan had made a real dog's dinner of my cedular which could have resulted in a very heavy fine. She made Fan aware that it was her fault, not mine and told her to get off my back. (painful)
What is the problem anyway, englishman?

right, fool.....go there, read em the riot act, tell em what ass holes they are and they'll punch your 'tough shit' card a couple of times.

yeah, gator.....just include your 'tough shit' card with your correspondence and 'dinuncia' and they'll punch it and send it back.

How long until Fanny retires? She is so arrogant that it is unbelievable. Her exit would substantively raise the Medellín quality of life factor.

By the way, my handwriting according to her, is "feo".

kenblanquito says on Jun 11, 2009, 13:29:

According to Mrs Blanquito, as a result of having to help me at the DAS office whenever problems come up, Fanny is not that bad really-it is just that she is ignorant (in manners) and very poorly educated and she is stuck in that position doing a job that she hates because she does not really understand the mechanics of the system and is probably stressed out of her box. According to wifey, her spelling in Spanish is worse than mine and she speaks rubbish Spanish. Any aggression directed towards her from us lot just makes matters worse and if her boss is not around, delights in punishing by means of the dreaded fines. Best time to catch her is when she has had a ticking off from the boss; that quietens her down for a while.
kramer-if your writing is feo, you should see hers!
douglas-the boss I referred to above is OK if you treat her with respect and she can be useful. Unlike Fan, she does listen and tries to provide solutions to problems; I personally feel more confident when she is around.

assuming we're talking about the same officious lady. you're right about her...she's the one that can open the jail house door, and slam it shut! it's been many years since i had a run in with her....came out of a dumb ass move my inlaws made when my wife and i were separated and divorced. her ears were focused on my inlaws and not on me and it was a bit like being a jew at a gestapo party. i wont go into the story.

Thanks for the imput.

Perhaps, it's a little paranoid to think that making a complaint will only get me into more trouble, but point taken.

For those of us that work, it's no joke constantly having to go back to the DAS office because people have their head in the clouds. Making a complaint might give them the prod they need. Nothing personal.

as for me and das.....personally if they had a pink office with barby girl secretaries, instead of those pandejeros in dirty clothes out front with mak 10's and uzies, they'ld still have attitude. impenetrable attitude and know what to do with the 'prod' i been dealing with das for over 20 years now and for me, it's just same shit, different day.

Never had a problem in Bogotá or Cali but it seems the further out you get the worse the service. Good (make that fluent Spanish) helps. Our rule is: A soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Una repuesta suave traerá enojo).

i travelled for so many years, gator, throughout africa, europe, the mid east and india that i had/have long since made my policy a 'smile and kind words'. das, in reality, is no exception to govt's pains as found throughout the world. it's just that 20 years of them is enough..... and i'm always amused by the guys in the greeting (guard) shack out front of das in belen... machine gun over the shoulder, tougher than thou attitude and more. i actually smile thinking about it..not snarl.
