Is it worth bringing my laptop?

I'm leaving for Iquitos Peru next week and after that I plan on taking the Amazon until I get to Colombia.

My question is. Should I bring my laptop? I have been reading other posts and it seemed like public wireless wasn't readily available in Colombia. I'm also worried about it getting stolen from my hotel rooms as I travel.

I really would only use my laptop for email and for photo downloading.

Is bringing my laptop even worth the possiblity of it getting wet traveling down the river, or stolen from me? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

We do have wireless conection in Colombia You can go to call centers with wireless conection, and some hotels have wirelles and diapip too. They wont steal it in a hotel,,,
However, taking it to the river,,,,,I dont think is a great idea.
Maybe you shold just take a USB memory and download your pics there, and just get online in any internet cafe...

I use wireless in Palos de moguer in Bogota, in my spanish school, and a cafe near my hotel, so its available but not too common. In parke llaras in Medellin is a bar that has it as well.

I usually just dump the memory card on a CD Drugstores and other places have the photo machines which allow you to empty your card into a cd, so you can keep on clicking...
