carter says on Apr 25, 2005, 13:45: It depends on what your idea of Safe is? If you think someone picking your pocket or robbing you in the street with a knife makes a place extremely dangerous then you won't feel safe here. If it is the first place you've ever visited you may also feel unsafe. If you´ve visited other Sth American cities or Asian cities you will find that Bogota feels alot safer than many.

kernow62 says on Apr 26, 2005, 12:06: Make sure you have a spring in your step, mainly so you can jump the 12 inch high curbs once you do make it across the street in one piece.

platano says on Apr 26, 2005, 12:30: GIB, your story about pothole covers and transformers... Reminds me of the time we were hiking in Cauca and when we came to the place to cross the bridge...surprise! The bridge wasn't there. The bridge had been stolen by the FARC. It wasn't a big bridge and it was a pontoon type bridge, but I just never imagined someone would steal a bridge. They just took it apart and carried off the pieces. SOB's!

dwmte says on Apr 26, 2005, 16:31: they autta saw off the parking meters in poblado... the invent of that bit of wisdom was the death of old poblado. and old poblado was sooooooo cool. way before lleras and all the bars and clubs. just the casa de los cinco puertos and lots of cool people that lived all around and parties that never stopped. i felt like i had died and gone to heaven when i found myself in medellin. little did i know i'd spend the next two and a half years.
