Hi, I am getting married to a Colombian in Nov this year and her dad has asked me to sign a pre-nup kind of agreement prior to this. All this is fine, for obvious reasons, I am just wondering is this normal in Colombia? I am from Ireland and it is certainly not the norm.
Gracias in advance!

Fionalatina says on May 24, 2006, 20:44: ... she might have money... This is not the normal procedure but it happens when either she has some money or some assets that her father wants to protect. If you were getting the divorce not only she would get have of your things in Ireland but you could get half of what ever she has in Colombia... Fiona 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

dwmte says on May 25, 2006, 07:24: since her father proferred this issue... and now it's on the table, you should feel perfectly in your rights to ask him to spell it ALL out. don't settle for the two step shuffle. you need the facts. i don't know where you are in colombia, but when something of this nature arises, you need legal counsel (your's, not their's) and the issue has to be made as clear as glass.
