Is it just my imagination?

Or Bogota is becoming more dangerous?

geez I hate to say this on a forum where some people are already paranoid about security but everytime I read El tiempo I find some news of this sort...

I don't want to down play any security whoa's .. But If you are aware of your surroundings , if you use common sense about where you are , what time of day is it , who are you with , you should be alright

I will admit that I don't stray very far form my little world here in Bogota... Most of my time is spent working with trip's back and forth between the North and Barrio Restrepo ( My leather World )

At night if I hang with my friends , it is in Zona G ..

Au contraire. Mrs Gator and I have found it just the opposite over the past few years. If you judge the situation by newspapers in any big city any where it would appear death stalks the streets-which is simply not true.

Can you get into trouble-but we were only robbed in one city, Atlanta, and I lost my wallet to a pickpocket on the metro in Caracas. Of course Mrs. Gator is always on guard like a lioness guarding her cubs where ever we go.

When we first moved to my little desert town, we'd read the newspaper and it would actually have the Police Logs.... So, any activity reported to the dispatcher would be printed.... The first few months, we were mapping out how far away crimes were from us..... Eventually, we stopped being paranoid, since we rationalized that the number of crimes per capita was minimal... and we haven't seen the police logs anymore... it was kind of like, there's No way that we would have ever seen the Police Log in L.A.... That would take up the entire L.A. Times....

Mr. Hollywood says on Jan 25, 2008, 21:34:

Good point, Msaucey.

The Los Angeles Times tried an experiment in 2007 of having a reporter dedicated to writing something, anything about every homicide in the city. Just on a blog for the online version, not in the paper.

She had to give up because it was just too much to cover.

Where exactly are you coming from... the north pole??? Have you ever reade the daily crime logs in newspapers from Miami, or Los Angeles, Rome, Madrid? Full of reports on robberies, murders and burglaries in the areas they serve. Crime can be found everywhere, anywhere, at any time. The best cure for your fear is apparently to live in the tight cocoon of your life, watching YouTube and fearing for your safety. Sounds pretty miserable to me.
