Is Fernando Araújo on the way out?

I sure hope so. He has been a silent and useless foreign minister and is only in his position as a result of "palanca" and pity points. He has been effectively absent during the last few months of monumental events in Colombia.

This article in El Tiempo and others pose the question. Jaime Bermúdez just resigned as ambassador to Argentina and his name is being floated as a replacement for the useless mute that is Araújo who would presumably be asked to step down.

I thought that I had read that Araujo had already demitted office in preparation for a run at the presidency. Am I off base?

I don't think he is out just yet. The article states that he was going on some official trip. That wet rag doesn't have a tenth of what it takes to be president.

I hope so. The man was not qualified for the post, pretty useless IMO.

His appointment was never more than a sad publicity move.

While I vehemently disagree with him on many points, at least Luis Eladio Perez still has the balls to stand up and be heard. Sadly, he was forced to leave Colombia due to death threats.

I don't understand that Pérez guy, he was all about fighting the FARC and saying how we couldn't let them intimidate us. Next thing you know, he's on the first plane to Miami because of what he called "FARC threads". Nice.

Apparently, the answer was yes. Good riddance. Jaime Bermúdez will take over as Canciller tomorrow.
