IS Brooklyn In the House...Without a Doubt

Well I booked my trip to Colombia The New York Brooklyn Gringo is going to Cali the last week of November..and then Medellin the forst week of Dec. Anyone have any suggestions where to go I mean I have family there and (grandfather, cousins, aunts) but i need to know the cool places where people my age (25) can meet nice Colombians that dont mind interacting with Americans... Oh yeah can people refrane from using the word Gringo it sounds real demeaning.... And as far as volience New York is noth that far behind as far as killings in square mile.. Nothing to be pround of...

Gringo I heard myself called Gringo while in the airport awaiting my next flight. It was meant as foreigner and I expect to have to pay the Gringo price sometimes, until I know better. If you speak Spanish, then you do better than me. Gringo is what I get called by locals there. Even GF says it is said not to be mean!

Some numbers NYC 6.9 homicides per 100k population
Bogota 23
Medellin 45
Cali 90
Barranquilla 53

Not to scare you, it's not necessarily to say you need to stay indoors the whole time just remember Colombian cities are all WAY more violent than NYC.

Boogie down BX here BTW!

for NYC it was 6.9 per for 2005. It's slightly elevated for first half of 2006 but I don't remember the number, I heard it on TV. :P

16.2 is a DAMNED good improvement. That's just over 80% down from it's highest of 87!!

to me anything between 5 and 10 is normal. Below 5 you are probably living in a police state whether you know it or not!!

I agree, that 16 figure for Bogota is a surprising improvement. It had been relatively static at 20 to 23 for a few years.
