I saw Maiden in Ozzfest 2005 and they sucked... to old school for me.

Tinto (Moderator) says on Nov 13, 2007, 12:50:

I'm patiently waiting for Simon's opinion of this cultural imperialism - he didn't care too much for Marilyn Manson showing up in Bogota.

They're not Satanic, are they?

Tinto, I have no problem with foreign bands visiting, just as long as they don't promote devil worship.

Devil worship is good. Satan is fighting against God's tyranny so we can be free.

Robert Jorge says on Nov 13, 2007, 18:00:

No, Iron Maiden is anything but Satanic. Their mascot is "scary looking" to uptight parents, but they are quite tame. Many of their songs have historical references and can actually be educational. Aces High is about how the British beat the Germans back in the Battle of Britain. Run to the Hills is about the white man taking the Native American's land, etc etc. Of course, 22 Acacia Ave. is about a whorehouse ... that is the most "controversial" song I can think of at the moment by Iron Maiden.

greg says on Nov 13, 2007, 19:55:

IMHO one of the best metal bands ever!

An iron maiden is an iron cabinet built to torture or kill a person by piercing the body with sharp objects. Never heard of a band with this name.

Goes to show you there is indeed a generation gap!

Poor old Colombia.

manINred says on Nov 14, 2007, 14:24:

I saw Iron Maiden at the Molson Ampitheatre last year. They couldn't sell that out, yet they've sold 30,000 tickets in Bogota? Bogota is the same city where Bon Jovi was reportedly selling tickets for something ridiculous like a few hundred dollars.

What is it about that damn city, fawning over very mediocre western music???

Robert Jorge says on Nov 14, 2007, 15:22:

"Mediocre"? Talking about Maiden - even if you don't like metal - they are anything but mediocre. Perhaps the most talented bunch of guys in the genre. And their stage show I heard is second to none - up there with Pink Floyd.

And somebody mentioned the "generation gap" because they hadn't heard of the band. Maiden has been around since the very early '80s. True, they aren't as old as the Stones, but crap: How long do you have to be around until you are considered multi-generational? I liked Maiden when I was a teenager in the '80s. Kids like them now, 25 years later.

manINred says on Nov 14, 2007, 17:43:

no, it's not up there with pink floyd. ok, i like maiden (saw their concert), and the mediocre comment was in reference to bon-jovi

Zollimtsenad says on Nov 24, 2007, 14:39:

Is freaking hilarious when seeing people that actually beleive there are bands out there that "worship th devil", hahahahaha......... There is not such thing a metal band promoting that, it is true this genre mentions very constantly Satan, 666, dark magic, murder, blood and death; but this is entirely and explicitly for entertainment for show business and it expresses people's biggest fears and translate themselves into forms of powerful metal riffs. Iron Maiden is one of the greatest metal bands that ever existed nothing in comparison to any of the shitty mainstream music out there like crap, I mean... rap, fucking commercial posers like bon jovi, and the biggest defecation of music: hip hop which simply promotes stupid crap like materialism, gangstas, getting crunk and raping hoes......brilliant.

Up the Irons 4 life!

Strobers says on Jan 4, 2008, 14:23:

I agree with Robert and Zollimtsenad. Iron Maiden is an incredible band. Their songwriting and musicianship is superb. Top notch. I saw them play at Irvine Meadows Ampitheater in the early 80's and they were riviting. Bruce Dickenson has one of the best voices in the genre. Hard Rock/Metal bands come a dime a dozen, but Iron Maiden is up there in a class of bands by themselves; Black Sabbath, U.F.O. Robin Trower.

I burned my own personal greatest hits package from their song list and I still play it all the time and I'm in my 40's. Great music never fades away.

Great Band......too bad the current generation has no idea what is really good music

never go to bed with someone crazier then you are, you will do it and you will regret it.......
