IRA and Colombia

Now that the IRA decided to disarmed and stop violence and traficking and smugling forever. what do you think what impact will have on the Farc. If I am not wrong I think they used help the farc in some training and smugling of guns.

Don't worry if not the IRA some other group or american secret agency like the CIA will help the FARC indirectly. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but do you really think that it is a phenomnon that a group that recieves almost no support from the Colombian people is the most powerful illegal armed group in the world, being very well equipped and in some cases better equipped than the Colombian Army? Could it be just because of the drug trade? Well the drug trade provides money not the guns. (remember Iran -Contra)That both FARC and Paramilitaries have weapons from the US and Israel without US intelligence knowing about it? You really don't think that someone is getting rich off the billions of dollars in mostly military aide to colombia and it is NOT planned? Right now Colombia is the only country in the americas with an armed resistance to the government. When that ends (if ever) that means that someone had to stop making millions. If I was part of that group I will do everything to make sure it continues. I always wondered why Carlos Lehder has never been allowed to be intervied? perhaps he know too much and the downfall was being tied to Escobar and Noreiga.

Unfortunately I would suggest the official break up of the IRA may actually help group's like the FARC.

The IRA are no longer a terrorist organization, but I believe it was a former minister to Northern Ireland who stated recently that they now comprise one of the most sophisticated organised crime networks in Europe, if not the World!

All those highly trained IRA killers are not going to turn into good guys just because the leadership tells them to do so.

No, I fancy they will go freelance and sell their skills and weapons contacts to the highest bidder - I hear narcos pay very well.

Come on, GIB, George Bush is always to blame. Hell, if a guy's not getting laid, he blames it on George.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

My thoughts exactly I totally agree with Blonde007. The organization of the IRA might have changed its stand, but the really bad guys will just go global. They've worked too hard developing specialized knowledge. Now they'll take it to the open market.

Also agree with GIB on blaming the CIA. Anyone who thinks they're that capable really doesn't know much about the CIA. Also, why do they have to be supported by a large portion of the Colombian society to be powerful? The mafia in the USA was never supported by a large percentage of Americans, yet it managed to be very powerful because of its control of certain black markets and because of its ruthlessness against enemies. The same could very well apply to the FARC, and they do have a certain amount of popular support in parts of the country.

You really think people get rich off of selling guns, drugs, kidnappings, selling women. PLEASE!!!! They all do it for their joy and pass time. You know, like a hobby. Golf, fishing. If you don't believe them just ask them.
Interesting statement. You could call your self the C.A.L.I .
FBI, CIA, FARC, IRA, IRS,POOR,PLO, MUZ-LIMS, are all taken so you would have to start your organiation from scratch unless your a leader then people will follow but if your a follower, well you know? you'll never get rich.
They will want doers not talkers.
You need to talk about something you know about so you can be make millions. MAYBE, billions/
just my thoughts and not intended to insult or hurt anyone.

Can't do that for you gringoinbogota Start to think objectively and not like a typical american. Lets say the CIA was an agency out of a middle east country. Based on the history of their actions all over the world supposably fighting the cold war, they would be called a terrorist organization based on US standards. FARC and AUC traffick drugs and arms and are considered terrorists. CIA trafficks drugs and arms (Laos, Iran-contra) and they are not considered terrorists? That's not a double standard? No need to answer, you and all know what the correct answer is.

I cannot say that these people do not enjoy trafficking arms, drugs and prostitution, but you are telling me that money is not made!!! This topic is now a waste of time.

Job satisfaction in FARC "They all do it for their joy and pass time. You know, like a hobby."

I didn't know the FARC was conducting job satisfaction surveys among their ranks. I bet you they like being tortured too.

If anyone wants the FARC to flourish... If anyone would want the FARC to flourish and succeed, it would be that nut in Venezuela, Chavez. They both have close to the same philosophy, and Chavez would love to make Colombia, its neighbor, into another socialist, Chavez-type Government. If the FARC were ever to succeed, Chavez would have another ally for his crazy plan of ruling the Southern Americas.

Thing is, just like the paramilitaries, some of whom once hired Israeli and British instructors (courtesy of druglords) to train themselves in assassination and combat, the FARC have pretty much already learned all they needed to from their visiting IRA comrades.
