Interview postponement

We had to postpone our Oct 21st interview for a K-1 visa at the last minute. The problem is not being able to bring her child to the states without the fathers’ permission. We’ve resolved this issue and want another interview. I e-mailed a note to the embassy, before the 21st, about the postponement and they responded that they would make a note of it and thanked me. I also explained this to my Congresswoman after she inquired about the results of the interview. She helped me a lot with getting the first interview and said that she would help me with the rescheduling.
What is the process for rescheduling an interview?
I'd like to get her on the December list

May i ask you what email address for the embassy you used? Also, you are the first person i've heard of to get their congressperson involved. How helpful was she and is this something our elected representatives do regularly? Very interesting; would like to know more.

It really is ridiculous that there isn't an office or person there in the embassy to answer your/our questions. I have been trying to verify with anyone at the embassy that they even received my wife's packet 3 papers, but who to call or email? I get the run-around. I wish I could help you with your question.

Regards!

Bobby, the congresswoman's office ought to be able to handle the rescheduling for you. Glad to see you using your congresswoman's office. Remember we talked about that earlier.

Gargoylegabe, Google "congresswoman" in the upper right hand corner. Several (if not all) congressmen's offices are familiar with the various visa procedures. Typically, they'll fax you a 1-2 page info sheet asking for your case details. Return the fax, and they're off to the races. Their results, as a government office, are typically more accurate and timely than the information you'll get as an individual. The people I know of (myself included) who used their congressperson's office got answers in 1-3 days. Good luck.

Cam0940, thanks for the tip. That is good to know that they do this and have some chance to get some answers/results. I'm gonna give it a try. Many thanks!! Best wishes.

This is the email for the Immigrant Visa unit at the embassy (they also handle K visas): IVBogota at state.gov

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Thanks guys It's good to see you back Cam. The congresswoman was my lifesaver. She found out everything for me. She was great. It's about time those politicians helped. I also received a very prompt(next day) response from the embassy using IVBogota at state.gov

Thanks Bobby. Glad to see you resolved the issue with the child. That was a potential monkey wrench. Someone said they had to send emails every day for like 2 weeks before they got a response, which is why I didn't mention it earlier. I sent an email 4 months ago and haven't received a reply yet. Doesn't matter though, because my girlfriend is here in Los Angeles. So it sounds like you're coming into the home stretch. With this extra time you have, is it now possible for you to go down there to be with her for the interview?

gargoylegabe When I first mailed my K-1 to Texas I heard nothing of it's receipt. I contacted my Congressman and within 6 hours I got an answer along with information as to when it was. I found it was sent to California and was contacted within one day that it was received via my e-mail.
They will help you and most offices have someone in them that do just this. Congressman Bartons office has a woman there just for these questions. Good luck and hope all comes togather for you and yours real soon.

Sonny Thanks for the guidance and the words of encouragement. I'm hoping this protracted and tense experience will soon be rewarded with having my wife here with me. Thanks again!
