dwmte7 says on Aug 16, 2008, 11:02: you're probably all aware of this, but in colombia, the legal way the trafficers launder their money, is property raiz. you invert into realestate and produce, tax bearing property, and bingo, your monies clean. the govt gets the taxes, you get the real estate and everybody's happy. take a look around. look at all the construction. now think a minute. the last thing colombian cities need is another mall, or more condominium towers...but they'[re going up at a lightning pace. si o no. dwmte 1 funny, 0 helpful. |

quantum says on Aug 16, 2008, 13:27: I appreciate your point of view Simon, but please answer one question if u will. The number of Colombians in that article who suposedly want out was what, 92%? I would like to get the opinion of people qualified to have one, if that number is any wheres close to the truth. Personally Ive been to Colombia 3 times and have learned a lot each time and had some fun as well and met a quite a few decent and interesting folks, but who can possibly pull a number out a hat like that? It was a good article, some good stuff in there, but I trip on that number of unhappy Colombians that want out. All u folks who live over there, how many of your friends, family or neighbors or anybody else u might know, want out Locolombia?

romy says on Aug 16, 2008, 14:16: lots of people want out but i would argue 92% is exagerated, however considering someone like me lives outside the country and many of the wealthy Colombians want to study/work (live) abroad then it's not too hard to imagine... the number is from a poll that was discussed in a previous post, i don't believe they used it in the actual article (it was part of MTs comment)

manINred says on Aug 17, 2008, 04:22: Medellin Traveler is correct in his assertion that until the drug issue is solved or diminished to a massive extent, there will be serious underlying problems in Colombia that will not go away.
