insurance

I recently renewed our motorcycle insurances. We have 2 motorcycles. A 200cc and a 110cc. I noticed that the price was the same for both. Upon further investigation, I realized that the insurance is just liability insurance. My agent doesn't seem to know about theft insurance and it supposedly isn't offerd in Cartago. I'd need to travel to Pireira to get it. If I can even get it there.

Does anyone know what a typical theft policy for a motorcycle of about 5 million pesos would cost?

Damn, Lowell! Some of your family members think Colombia's war for independence was with the USA and your insurance "professional" can't tell you about theft insurance. Is there something in the water in Cartago or did you just get lucky?

Can't get my construction done, need to change phone service, have some minor health issues that need addressing, clothing falling apart, no help in finding health insurance for my self, too many broken promises and on and on. Yea, I have a real great helpful and loving family. It's all cool as they've now set the pattern on how I'll be treating the lot of them permanently. Knowing that I'm pretty much on my own here, I'm developing a different approach. One of much more self-preservance and little to no concern for most others. Except my baby girl of course.

I am starting to wonder about other cities. The people of Cartago are a hard group of people to deal with.

You can get anything in Colombia.

Liability is mandatory. Theft,, Oh, I'm sure someone sells a policy.

I don't know anyone who has insurance on their moto. ZERO. That might be why the agent has limited knowledge.

Theft insurance in Cartago,, you should let us know the price / availability.

PS: When you hear someones moto was STOLEN you should show the proper remorse because not only did they lose 6 months salary but STILL need to make payments if they have financing.

no need for theft insurance that's why we have parking every where which are cheap and also those guys on the street that take care of your moto while you go shopping its only 300 to 500 pesos....cheaper and better than insurance

It's not easy to find theft insurance because motorcycles are too easy to be stolen. You can find theft insurance only when you but it new from the dealer (for 1 year and when the insurance ends, possibly they will sell you for another year but surely not for the third year).

And ALWAYS prefer a parking lot. Don't leave it in the street. Do you think this guy in the street would care to protect your bike for 300 pesos against an armed guy ? Would you leave your 3 - 5 millions motorcycle to a guy for 300 pesos instead of 900 per hour in a parking lot ? Do you know it's against the law to leave your motorcycle in the street (you could be fined).

Kind of makes me more concerned about riding solo into the country. I rarely use the guys on the street.
