Installation of new Telmex - Cable TV & Internet.

We upgraded from Analog to Advanced digital services for the TV and upgraded the router to wireless on Wednesday. The TV install went well but they don't take back the old equipment. We had to deliver the old equipment to the Telmex office. The router never worked so we took the router back to the office with the old equipment and asked that they replace it. They couldn't do this at the office and said the would send a Supervisor to the house to check the connection. The records in their computer show there weren't any problems with the installation of the TV or Internet. The guy shows up at the house and doesn't even have laptop of his own to test the connection and doesn't have a router to replace the failed equipment. So, I've made two trips to the Telmex office and they have made 3 trips to the house. All of this should have been done with 1 phone call and 1 trip to the house. This is just an example how inefficient things can be in Colombia.

sounds about right - it took them 8 months exactly to install internet at my house (telefonica) - every time it was an excuse - oh we haven't connected the neighborhood to the main trunk yet two streets up they have internet/TV...

telmex may not let you have internet without the TV package but I just hack the telefonica sat. feed (I get both telefonica/telmex feeds) and just pay for the internet/local phone...

Curramberochris - Do you get any HD channels with the Direct TV? and do they offer a DVR?

Telefonica is horrible and dealing with them is a disaster. I cancelled them after 4 months and paid the cancellation fees just to get them out of my life. The TV service never worked and I didn't get half the channels I paid for. The internet was slow and 2 megabits was the fastest they could provide. ETB is better and the customer service is great but the technoligy is behind the times and antiquiated. ETB uses an analog technoligy for TV and the fastest they can provide is 4 megabits in select locations. I have Telmex - digital cable and get 150 channels plus 50 music channels. Their network is the same as Comcast and they use the same hardware as Comcast. I pay for 8 megabits and get a solid 8.2 megabits - the only complaint is the upload speed it 420kb. Dealing with their customer service office here in Santa Marta is OK except for the waiting they are professional.
