Hi all.
Could anybody tell me what there is inside the Torre de Cali? Is it a hotel? are there apartments for rent? and where is it located? is it near the city center? is there some sightseeing next to it?
Thanks.

Gator says on May 18, 2006, 06:49: Hotel Torre de Cali... is on the Avenida De Las Americas. First owned and built by the narcos, confiscated by the government, was and office building then converted to a hotel. To me better choice would be the InterContinental Hotel on Avenida Colombia. Both are close to Av. Sexta where much of the nightlife happens. Both are about the same distance to some of the best shopping centres and the downtown center "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gator says on May 18, 2006, 10:41: Guess What... The wife and I lived in Cali for a number of years like fifteen, before moving to Bogotá after I sold the finca out towards Jumandi. I would classify the Torre as only OK and what does "They have two dance clubs inside."really have in the way of a recommendation. We have been there several times and found the hotel was somewhat shabby and the the restaurants mediocre at best. Gator says on May 18, 2006, 12:20: Kind Of A Iron Clad Rule. We never get a room above the fifth floor. Why? That as far as the ladder trucks can reach-fire protection, in most hotels, is not that good. But, you are 100% correct in the view. costajunkie says on May 18, 2006, 18:03: I don't understand the big deal I stayed here about 4 years ago with my wife while visiting her sister in Cali. Her sister is an officer with GAULA, and because she had helped one of the owners with some kind of "business", we stayed there for the equivalent of $10 per day for 2 weeks - and a bottle of Johnny Walker. Everyone (colombianos) I talked to were raving about this place, as if it was The Plaza or something.

costajunkie says on May 18, 2006, 18:34: ... Not everybody here said it was a horrible place. Besides, the "big deal" was not what people here say, but what the colombianos to whom I have talked believe about this place...

Gator says on May 22, 2006, 19:57: What?? Never said I actually said there that was a post by another individual who did stay there. How long have YOU lived in Cali. Had occasion to talk to people who have and, for the most part, got a so so reaction. BUT have been to many social occasions with my wife when she was editor of the woman's section of the newspaper.
