I know you guys are probably tired of the unending threads about Ingrid Betancourt. The news of the freed hostages last week was probably the best news that I had heard in a long time. The best thing about it was that no one was harmed during the operative and these individuals that were held captive for so long will now have the opportunity to start there life all over again in freedom. Like anyone else I have been attentively reading all of the news coverage surrounding Ingrid Betancourt. In all of her interviews she has expressed that she does not believe in bigotry and that she does not feel hate towards the FARC. She has been expressing herself as a humble person who does not have any room in her heart for hate but yet during her interview yesterday with Larry King she avoided/refused to answer any questions regarding Clara Rojas her longtime friend and running mate. I can't help but feel intrigued as to why she has not mentioned Clara Rojas one single time and why she will not touch on the subject. It sounds like there may have been a falling out between the two of them and it contradicts herself as being someone who can forgive even her enemies. I am also curious to know what the story is with her and her estranged husband who she has not mentioned in any interviews nor in her first declarations after being released from captivity. I know she deserves to have her own privacy on personal details but she is putting herself out there in the limelight and doing interviews left and right so I think it is also giving the public and media an open invitation to ask these questions. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

gamm2 says on Jul 10, 2008, 12:39: I heard that she had a problem with a female captive... I didn't think it was Clara Rojas, but who knows. I guess there were some female senators that it could have been. The fact that she didn't talk about Clara yesterday, I took it to be that she didn't want to get into the fact that Clara had a baby with a guerilla.

sanandressi says on Jul 10, 2008, 13:07: Go look at the 100 photos of Ingird in the last few days and ask yourself why she does not go to a real quiet French farm. The woman looks weak and frail and totally underweight.

We can not expect her to have a sound mind about every detail of her ordeal. What do people expect from her? Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

mrgizmo says on Jul 10, 2008, 14:12: LOL. The wife it's still in Colombia vacationing, but I'd rather have her here nagging instead of being without her and without the nag. Nagging it's built into women's genes, but that's another story. Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Lcacique says on Jul 10, 2008, 14:43: If Ingrid spoke about the things that should "stay in the jungle" right now in the present, the media would go crazy with it. Because the media feeds on that type of news, it would be everywhere and as dwmte7 said on another thread...she doesn't need that right now nor do her children, and really, nor does anyone else. Later when she can distance herself from the situation, when she can heal some of the wounds, MAYBE she will choose to touch on these details (which frankly, I do not feel are any of our business). If she does so at this point, the media reaction will likely not be as insane because they will have moved on to other stories (this obviously would be better for her on several levels). I know that she was held against her will, like the other hostages, and that is enough for me. Unlike Larry King, I do not need to know about what she did when she needed to go to the bathroom. Hoy se nota en la floresta un ambiente de alegría. ¡Y el rumor de ranchería es mas dulce y sabe a fiesta! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Rikito says on Jul 10, 2008, 17:10: Captives who have been freed are an interesting psychological study. Right now she has an untold amount of energy. But at the end of about one month or so reality will hit her so hard. No amount of rest or medications will help. She, like most other captives will have a minor emotional breakdown and will have sudden bouts of crying, laughing for no reason, staring, complete silence, lack of responding to people, etc. Then they start to rebuild. How long will it take before we see the ‘old Ingrid.’ Months…years…never. It is not life that matters, but the journey. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

dwmte7 says on Jul 11, 2008, 05:23: i don't know where you did your time rikito...did mine, '61 to '63 in asia....no amount of medication, shrinks or what ever , ever changes that. like so many old school mates who made the same journey...many little more than walking wounded, still, who just deal with it a day at a time. and those days as you know so well, are real long. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
