Action, they say, speaks louder than words. And on the day that, Ingrid Betancourt descended from the aircraft that brought her from her 6 years of captivity, the world saw how she embraced her mother, Yolanda Pulecio affectionately, but with her second husband, Juan Carlos Lecompte, it was a distant, I-know-you-kind of embrace. The embrace was devoid of any ounce of affection. Now that Mrs Betancourt has assumes semi-sainthood status and is always invoking divine intervention in her release and has made the journey to Lourdes, France to thank Virgin Mary, other aspects or traits of the Colombian Amazon have started unravelling themselves. Juan Carlos Lecompte is today victim of what Ingrid did to her first husband, the French man, Fabrice Delloye. What has not been emphasized about the former Colombian politician and former hostage of FARC, whose only campaign programme, in her botched 2002 presidential bid was the distribution of condoms on the streets of Bogotá, to the horror of the pious Colombians, is that, she loves men. In the morally loose western world, Mrs Betancourt’s conduct will be or is feted as female emancipation, but in her country, she is viewed with a mixture of disgust and curiosity.
For a refresher or starter, especially for those who don’t know Mrs Betancourt or have been forced fed by the propaganda created around her, it was when she fell in love with the man that she has now decided to put on the sideline, that, she left her first husband with whom they had two children and through whom, she acquired the French nationality, that is making her mother to snub the Colombian president and government, that she left France for her native country. Ingrid Betancourt might be making headlines in France and paraded all over the place like the trophy of President Nicholas Sarkozy, but in her homeland of Colombia, she is trailing scandals and has fallen apart with her former campaign manager and fellow hostage Clara Rojas. But what has scandalised Colombians is the news that, in the jungle, where she was held by FARC, life was not all that hellish as she or her supporters clubs have presented things. Hostages at least had time to fall in love and Ingrid fell in love. According to the Peruvian online magazine, Peru.com of July 13th 2008, Mrs Ingrid Betancourt fell in love with former Senator Luis Eladio Perez, who was also a former hostage of FARC, when they were in the bondage of the Narco-Marxist rebel movement[1]. The new lovers, still according to the online paper, were even planning to go on secret honey moon that has now been exposed.

Cerealkiller says on Jul 22, 2008, 12:07: good for her, although luis eladio isn't that attractive...Surely no one can expect someone to go without a little loving for 6 years. Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives -John Stuart Mill 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Cerealkiller says on Jul 22, 2008, 12:46: she's not really my type hahaha. But Lecompte is better looking. I also heard she was involved with Alfonso Cano and living it up in the jungle... I am going to flip a coin and decide which story sounds more spectacular. People seem to experience great pleasure in slandering talented figures. (better?) Mononoke28 says on Jul 23, 2008, 08:38: Well if she's not in love with the guy she was married to before she was kidnapped over 6 years ago, then yeah, she has every right and reason to abandon him. It wouldn't mean that she's not grateful or that she doesn't care for him in another level. But no one should be forced to stay married to someone else if there is no love involved. I don't care what the Catholic Church has to say about it. Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
