Hola,
I'm backpacking in South America and was considering staying at Platypus H. while in Bogota, mid December. Does anybody have any comments about the Hostel (i.e. is it clean?, friendly staff, convenietly located, quiet, quite safe to leave your luggage in the room while going out etc.).
I believe is located in La Candelaria. is this area –for Bogota standards- reasonably safe at night time?
Thanks a lot for your comments
Muchisimas Gracias y ahi nos vemos.

Once in a while they get mugged. I colombiana friend in the area insists on always giving monedas to the street people as a "chuzo" might be the reward if you don't so carry coins. I guess "reasonably" safe might apply.

It's one of those classic backpacker places that you find here and there around the world, not to be missed. The owner (Herman) is very friendly and has traveled to over 100 countries himself. It's also a great place to get the latest word on the street about where to go and such. http://platypusbogota.com I can highly recommend it. Poor but snappy 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
