I would suggest to do most if not all of your driving during the day, be settled in for dinner and cerveza when the sun goes down. A friend of mine attempted to hike through the Darien Gap. He caught a boat near Turbo over to the Darien region. He informed me he had only walked for about forty minutes when all the sudden the whole jungle around him stood up and approached him. He had walked right into a Panamanian/U.S Army counter drug ambush. He stated he actually pooped himself! They informed him he was in real bad guy territroy. They escorted him back to the boat launch and sent him back to Turbo. So if you do the Darien, be sure to take an extra pair of shorts and toilet paper!

dwmte7 says on Oct 30, 2007, 12:41: way back in the 70's, a buddy and a friend of his drove an old 1949 4 dr.chevy slope-back sedan all the way to panama, then deck loaded the heap on a freighter to buena ventura (then, $13.00) and then they drove to cali...where they held up for several months and ended up in the drug business, flying ki's to sanfrancisco in a gym bag...never getting busted...and ended up millionaires. after several years, like most, they ended up getting busted, and spent less than a year in jail. times change like the price to move the car from panama to b.v.; and the time spent in jail. now both prices are drastically higher. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
